We -Spurs- started with eight players of 22 years of age or younger.
I think you have the youngest starting 11 in the premier league don't you?

Given the team put out tonight *almost* wish that lad had scored when through.

Just left...enjoyable 2nd half, 1st was dl and we the team and fans were flat..spurs have some decent yousters and credit to their fans, love seeing away fans really enjoying themselves..they certainly wanted the win unlike a lot of spurs fans on here who were not arsed..
Credit to, Trent, wijnaldum, origi and Sturridge ...
I also thought lucas pretty much had their new forward martialed all game..
Hoping for newcastle away next for a decent away trip smile..nice to be next round of any cup

Well, well, well. Even Moreno was decent tonight.

Stewart is a prospect, as is Alexander-Arnold.

Origi was excellent but I'm afraid Ings needs more time to recover. He killed many of our attacks once he came on.

Anyway, always nice to beat the spuds. Here's hoping we draw Newcastle in the next round.

Wijnaldum and Klavan? Quite a few of the others are more experienced than their team, but I don't think they'd be first teamers when you see our team recently.
Well, I meant "first team experience" really - Mings, Wij, Clyne, Moreno etc. Anyway, job done. smile

I understand - it was more to point out the changes in our team. Quite a few reasonable players not in the first team now but with experience of it - could help a lot if we have some injuries and need to call on the 2nd choices.

Sturridge is a tricky one - decent player and showed yet again how good he is for scoring (although he missed a few pretty easy ones for him). It's just he doesn't fit in the first team style of playing. It will make it difficult in future as I suspect he will want away if he feels he can get a lot of goals but won't play. But obviously we will not want him to go to any rivals as if he suites them then it could "give" them a lot of goals.

Sturridge has done enough today to earn a sub appearance at the weekend. Ings still too rusty and I'm not sure he'll get enough pitch time. Maybe a loan move in January?

Lucas like Milner will do a job anywhere on the pitch.

Lucas is one of my all time favourite players. A really class guy and a credit to LFC.
He is a classy man I agree, very professional. Never moans.

Gotta say though, he loves a mistimed tackle!

Is he our last surviving Rafa signing?

I thought we were good last night. Never looked in any trouble.

On another note I watched it in one of the new private hospitality boxes which was an awesome experience. 6 Staff including a privatel chef. food was excellent. Can't believe how much the club have upped their game compared to the old hospitality!

He knows his stuff

Mauricio Pochettino on Liverpool:

“They have one of the best squads – if not the best squad – in the Premier League.”

“After the summer they have improved a lot by a lot by signing very good players and investing a lot of money.”

“In the way they play, they are very aggressive. Liverpool are one of the contenders to win the title. We share the aggression and intensity. Liverpool and Tottenham are different squads but we share many values and principles.”

What like building a team instead of buying one?

They have more important things to worry about this season with the champions league.

Would like us to draw Newcastle at home...

I want them away smile , cracking away day that

Seeing Trent play RB last night shows to me we dont need to go out and do what a lot of peopple in here always want - BUY BUY BUY , he has all the attributes to play RB

Also Ejaria grew into the game, seemed a bit lost in the 1st half, thought Stewart was also very good....
Wijnaldum really really has grown on me, his work rate is phenomenal, you wont see it on tv as much but last night I have never seen anyone about the pitch as much as him, he also very quick at getting into space and giving the person with the ball an option....he is becoming very important to our 1st 11
Origi was a monster in that 2nd half bulled their defenders

We had 6, not a massive difference....

Both squads have good youngsters, much prefer seeing clubs like ours give chances to youth rather than just buying all the time....people may ask why JK changed the whole 11 last night, seeing the team he put out should answer those questions, we have decent players he needs to see, whether that be youth or players just outside the 1st 11...
I for one was happy to pay and see the youth lads, seeing them play in U23 or friendly games is not the same.

Away for me too, I'm in the North East now, so that would be perfect.

Quite right, I found the game last night interesting to watch. It answered a lot of our questions. 2 that spring to mind are:

1. Why was Flanagan allowed out on loan? Because TA-A looks a good prospect/better.
2. Why isn't Ings getting any game time? Because he's still really rusty and Origi is currently miles better, as is Sturridge and Firminho.
3. Who is our DM cover? Stewart is. And he looks promising.

And so on.

Yep all 3 points spot on...

Just goes to show when people say x player should be above x player etc etc klopp sees them every day in training he knows who should be in the squad/team

This is the old thing with training, and we don't know how good players look on a day to day basis.

Klopp is slowly building a squad here with a strong 1st eleven and another dozen players champing at the bit to get in the first 11.

All players seem to be buying into Klopp, if they don't then see Sakho for details, he wont be messed with. if we can keep players like Countiho for a few years then surely some serious silverware will follow.

Klopp will build a stronger squad than this. Nothing against the youth that played yesterday, but they are 3rd choice for me. In 2 windows he's refashioned us to have a a very good first 11 with some depth in attack with Sturridge, Origi and Ings. We have very limited depth in midfield with only Can and Grujic competing for the 3 midfield positions. At the back we have Moreno as the only real full back cover and then Klavan and the utility player Lucas as centre back cover. Klopp will build a better squad and I'd be surprised if it featured so many youth players.

As it stands, if Clyne gets injured who plays right back this weekend?
