That's...really quite bizarre. If its true of course.People need to remember De Gea in his 1st year..he was exactly the same pulling off a number of saves then spilling the ball, missing a catch and so on
Note here how many in his 1st season...now if RT was manager he would have been out and at another club

How many would swap him now? All anyone is saying is guve the young lad time before chucking him to the scrap heap...klopp will have probably watched every game he played for his old club mainz so he must have seen something?

Not every signing comes good. I only brought it up as you guys jumped down my throat when I dared to question him at the start of the season. You experts claimed he was the dog's bks because Germany's footy mag rated him 2nd to Neuer.Note here how many in his 1st season...now if RT was manager he would have been out and at another club

I am all for giving players time, but when the keeper is costing you points it will hurt your chances of winning the league. Had De Gea been at the standard he is at now in 2011/12 when we lost to city on GD, we would have won the league by about 10 points.

I think so far he has probably cost 3 points plus a couple of extra goal off the goal difference - he has looked dodgy all season but we have been winning and I can't recall him being at fault in the games we have drawn. On the face of it I would rather have Mignolet at the moment and then sign Gordon Banks in the window. Absent a truly world class replacement I'd stick with what we have - don't we also have a highly rated youngster on loan? or has he not done himself any favours?

Dont think anyone is saying anything different... but if you had got rid of him who would you have now, so are you glad you stuck with him or wish you had fired him off?I am all for giving players time, but when the keeper is costing you points it will hurt your chances of winning the league. My point is you have to give someone a chance.....weather that be in the 1st team or not, he is making mistakes in his 1st season, as have many young keepers, he came here voted 2nd best by fellow pros in German league.... so I simply stated that, my point is there must be something there ......
You also mocked Matip when I said he was in the team of the year, he would be currently in the prems team of the year too....

I see your point. Yeah, I'm glad with stuck it out with De Gea, but to be honest, he is quite a rare case. A lot of flops remain floppy. Like our string of st keepers between Schmeic and VDS. Let's see what happens, I am in no way going to say he will remain this bad, but would it not have been better to ease him in in cup games and youth games and stuck with Mings for another 6 months/year?My point is you have to give someone a chance.....weather that be in the 1st team or not, he is making mistakes in his 1st season, as have many young keepers, he came here voted 2nd best by fellow pros in German league.... so I simply stated that, my point is there must be something there ......

Matip looks ok, i'll give you that one! Hopefully Bailly returns to our team ASAP (he was on the bench vs Eve) and can take his place in Team of the year alongside...dare I say it... David Luiz? hahaha

I dont think many fans would complain if that happened... I just get the feeling Klopp has said you are number 1 and go with it, as people have said he has made some errors but his mistake on Sunday was the only 1 that has cost us points (the draw) so I imagine he is thinking if he takes him out what will that do to any confidence he has.....Matip looks ok, i'll give you that one! Klopp is massive on 1 on 1 training so I imagine there is a lot of that going on right now, it wont last forever but I doubt he will take him out just yet.
The thing is, is that Karius has been well shielded by the defence and defensive midfielders - Carragher did a piece last night on MNF where he highlights this, as is illustrated by these numbers:
Apart from the Watford game, in which 5 saves were made when we were already 5-1 up, he has hardly been relied on. Which means our defending in general is actually very good! However when he has been called upon, he has fumbled and flapped on more occasions than he has made a telling save, say when are drawing.
Karius is inexperienced - do we jeporadise our very good season by carrying him? Like we did with Moreno last season?

I was thinking the game at the weekend.
Mistake at the end, plus general crapness throughout.
The draw rather than 3 points... we were 3 3 when he made the error Mistake at the end, plus general crapness throughout.

And even then... It should never have got to 3-3!! So maybe one goal he conceded in that game where he could have done better. Yes it happened to be the fourth, but in my mind that loss should be blamed on the whole team.
Carragher's analysis of the game was superb. Both Henderson and Firmino rushed to join the back-line and protect the goal rather than closing down the man or covering the space as they normally would. Both mistakes resulted in goals.paulrockliffe said:

Completely agree, the closing down was the issue, yes a keeper error occurred but it should never have got that far!
You could argue a Klopp error too, in that when we went 3-1 up, he could have taken off a forward player, pushed Lucas into a defensive midfield role and brought Klavan on and shut up shop. However there was nothing in the Bournemouth performance to suggest they would score again - I mean they hardly troubled us in the previous 70-odd minutes. Swings and roundabouts.
