A friend of mine who lives in America is looking for a VPN service so that he can use british betting sites abroad. He's tried a site called vpn4all but it hasn't worked for him.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I would say exactly the same about Private Internet Access.

VPN issues aside, how would that work exactly?

Presumably he wants to use British gambling sites due to the zero tax the UK imposes on gambling winnings, so I would presume he needs a UK bank account for it?

they are doing it because online gambling is illegal in most states across america and the uk has some very big markets to bet on and zero tax to pay on winnings.

however as mentioned he really needs to look into the logistics of what how he is going to set up accounts to be bet on. the online bookmakers/ poker sites/ exchanges are all very wise to this.

they may let him start staking on their site, but most will ask for proof of age, ID, proof of address etc..... especially if they are winning reasonable amounts. then there is also the problem with bank accounts, they are really starting to not like online gambling, few stories kicking about of people having bank accounts closed down for the transactions to gambling websites. also maybe reconsider if you let him use your details to sign up, you dont want to be getting investigated for money laundering........

its mainly poker stuff, but the questions will all be answered on '2+2 forums', after online poker was shut down in the states a few years ago, any online pros (or low stakes grinders) looked at ways round all this. for most of them they had to move abroad to continue playing!

Thanks for those responses - very helpful!

He owns property in the UK and has a UK bank account. There's no question of me letting him use any of my details - he just asked for some advice as he knows I'm a bit more tech savvy than him.

I'm hearing good things about Tunneller, very easy to setup and intuitive interface (esp if your not a techy)
