Note this is the worst Italy team of all time according to .. Italians.

In terms of the individuals on the pitch I can understand their view. Giaccherini couldn't get in the Sunderland side last year and was shipped off on loan. Pelle plays for Southampton and is a semi-regular scorer. Eder, the other striker had a poor loan spell at Inter this season. Parolo is probably 3rd or 4th choice in CM behind the likes of Marchisio and Verrati who are injured. Florenzi and De Sciglio, whilst good full backs are no superstars. The backline, made up of Juve players Barzagli, Chiellini, Bonucci and Buffon are their best players at present and any Italian will say none of them are as good as previous Italian defenders such as Maldini or Baresi.

They lack superstars, but the synergy and intelligence in their team and system is fantastic. Well done to Conte and the players, they look amazing in this game and when they tore Belgium apart.

Just been reading the stats on Italy and apparently the number of times they have won trophies whilst only just winning 1-0 is just over 13 000.

Perhaps the worst players (no superstar Totti, Del Piero, Baggio, whoever) but they've been going well as a team.

Excellent summary.

That guy in the suit in the technical area seems to be able to play a long ball also

A team which is greater than the sum of its parts, rather than a collection of names picked on which domestic club they play for?

What a novel approach smile

Crazy thinking. Much better off a guy who's injured all season but plays for Arsenal or a striker that's 3 months into 1st team football that plays for Manchester United.

You would think Streling has 45 minutes at most to save his England career, Hopefully he can prove us all wrong and have a blinder.

Yes I know he will just do his Velma run down the wing and fall over frown

It is still their best group, whoever they may play for. Italians are used to having a choice of top strikers from their domestic clubs, Inzaghi, Del Piero and Totti over the years at top Italian clubs.

It is something we could do with in England, forgetting the club and concentrating on the form and player.

I do find Italy very easy to get behind.

Spain are fking boring. It might be technically excellent but it's just so joyless to watch.
