Quoted from the BBC "Mat bd, Lille's Euro 2016 ambassador".

What an unfortunate name.

So it's opening ceremony night. I was at all the Wembley matches during Euro '96, so was "lucky" enough to witness the cringe-worthy opening ceremony. It included something about King Arthur, I think (no-one knew what was going on). All I can remember was that one of the knights fell off his horse in front of us and broke his arm. Hopefully the French will do better tonight. Maybe not a Crusaders theme though.

Wonderful. Not the smartest chants either. I can't imagine they'll fare well against a Kalashnikov.

I see this tournament as very open and wouldn't be surprised to see a rank "Outsider" making the final.

Perhaps.........

Rumania, Hungary, Czech Republic or Poland.

I don't think there are many/any easy games and many will come down to a single goal or teams setting themselves up not to lose and playing for penalties.
I'd love Hungary to win the final. Pulled them in work SS so chucked a quid on too at 350/1. They can be the new Greece.

I love an optimist!

The bet will keep your interest and I think I may have a little wager today too.

I've drawn England in my office sweep. On the one hand I've no chance of winning but on the other I don't have to support another team when (and if) they play England.

Belgium and Hungary for me in the sweepstake. Pleased with the first, I think they have a good chance.

I've just put my usual tournament covering bet on Germany (it's the only way I can accept them winning anything), with a similar free bet on Belgium. So I'll be happy if any of the Home Nations, Belgium or Germany win. I think they call that hedging your bets...

The pundits all seem to be lining up behind France. Lots of good players but will they pull together?

Looking forward to this, I can take or leave domestic football but really do enjoy internationals.
