There's a separate thread running about Frank Lampard's retirement.

Shame he took a lot of abuse when he played against us.

FMOB. Well that was an interesting way to relieve myself of £125.

Impressed with the stadium, apart from being herded around like sheep after the game.

Decidedly unimpressed with the utter garbage dished up on the pitch. Embarrassing, shameful st-in-your-hat-and-punch-it, terrible.

FML.

The herding, searching and instructions via megaphone; the metal fences, barricaded entrances and station are all particularly annoying.

I can't get to every game any more, but I will only be going to the big ones I can get to now. Sad state of affairs, really, as I was following us home and away to places like Doncaster not too long ago!

Stick with the lower games BM, anything against higher placed sides has been dismal.

i know West ham didn't play very well but City were frighteningly good last night.

Best i think they have played since the start of the season.

Because we let them. As sjc quite rightly said, we were asking for it with our defence lined up like that.

Agree, it was a pathetic & inept performance. At 3-0 I did think about fking off as we weren't going to get back into the game, although that would have been the same at 1-0.

Collins should defo have started, doubt that the outcome would have been any different.

To cap a ste evening the tossers at TFL have overcharged my Oyster card again.
You must have been one of the few that did stay, I thought that we had the most embarrassing early leavers in the Premier League but there must have been some silent dog whistle that prompted everyone to leave. At 75 mins it was looking very empty. It was like a fire drill.;)

As for the stadium, it wasn't so much impressive as striking. From the outside it was quite spectacular, from the inside it was disjointed/hiddelty piddelty with gaps in the stands giving it an eerie non atmosphere. Where we were, we couldn't see the screen because of the speakers and cables in the way. The circular configuration did not give the air of a football stadium and it put me in mind of a lot of European grounds that were trying to be something they are not. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will return. All Hammers should be rightly proud of such a venue but there needs to be a concerted effort to create an "end" with all the singers etc, otherwise it will continue to be sterile......not unlike the Etihad.

The stewards that I spoke to were all polite but completely useless, not knowing where the coach park/away end/way to the station were.

Having said all that, it is early days and the blueprint is there to make West Ham the main London branded club in the capital. The future seems bright.

All the Hammers fans we encountered were to a man/woman friendly and chatty.

As for the football it was a mixture of West Ham standing off and City punishing this in a spectacular fashion.

Finally, is it me or is that pitch alot wider than normal? If so, you are not doing yourselves any favours there.

Good luck for the rest of the season, like a lot of Blues I've always had a soft spot for West Ham, must be the colours! thumbup

I was out of the ground on 66 - pretty much as the pen went in.

Pitch is large & apparently in accordance w/ FIFA rules - presumably that has something to do w/ the size of the stadium - David Gold mentioned it on Twitter yesterday evening but I've not had a chance to look into it more.

I take it you have to go to Stratford? I tried it the first couple of games and decided to avoid it. Luckily I don't have to go there as I need to get to West Ham for the Hammersmith & City tube. So I usually go to Stratford International DLR or Stratford High St. DLR. You get away from most of the crowds quickly and there's not usually any problems at either station.

The only bit that annoyed me about getting away from the stadium was the barricade where the away fans come out. It only annoyed me once, when I didn't know they'd put it up and had to leg it back round the entire stadium biggrin. TBH I don't know why it wasn't there from the start...

I know it might not go down well but to be big you have got to think big. From a worldwide marketing point of view it is an ideal opportunity to steal a march on all the other London clubs. You need a billionaire to take you right to the top (assuming you want to go there) and the pull of the London brand for investment purposes would be huge. So, in my opinion to rebrand as London West Ham as in PSG would be a smart move.

Well they have already starting putting "LONDON" on their badge now and they do play in the "London Stadium", until such time as they can find a company that actually wants to pay to be associated with it....so I guess all they need now is a billionaire owner prepared to throw hundreds of millions of pounds down the drain, whilst circumventing FFP rules....and not get relegated in the meantime.

Sounds almost too easy scratchchin

To be fair, they are the only "London" branded club and I can't see any of the other 40 Pro/Semi Pro clubs in London bothering to change their name, so I guess they will be the main London-branded club by default.

I suspect that the billionaire owner will have more of an effect though wink
