On the bench for saturday..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-...
In other news AC "threatened at gun point" after leaving training, terrible DM writing aside this sounded a bit dodgy:

I think he flapped and dropped more than he caught today and as for the goal, well I just don't know what he was thinking
Stoke are always tough to play against but we showed very little ambition going forward and certainly no conviction - Ayew was isolated up top and he simply didn't look quick enough (probably lack of match-fitness and sharpness).
Thought Antonio was very poor up until the goal too - los count of the number of times he got the ball caught up in his feet out on the touchline.

Both teams crap, worst game of football I've seen for ages, and that's saying something as we've been st from the off this term.
Can't take any positives from WH today, apart from maybe Obiang. The rest were lazy, bereft of any creativity and dire in possession.
Results around us going against us and run of difficult games to come.
Did have a decent veg pie in the stadium though.

I've said it about Adrian many times , way too excitable, wants to be involved far too much. Collins seems to not stand the sight of him, and he makes the back four feel nervous. Good stopper, but poor with his feet and positioning questionable often.
As for the game, we were so so flat for the first 20 mins ok in the middle, then poor at the end. Bringing Crouch on and sticking him on Cresswell made Ogbonna pull out of position and created more space for Stoke.
I can sense the love affair with Payet is gradually starting to wain a tad,yes he had an assist but several are commenting On how he doesn't dig in and only seems to want to play on his terms. He's an indulgence well worth having though !!
Funny how we see things differently.... I love the look of Ayew, great movement, dropping off to make himself available(even got the ball off the centre halves once and made something happen.
And another thing ...... Baring in mind there wasn't any big decisions to be made .... That has to be one of the worst most inconsistent refereing performances I've ever seen.

Spot on with Adrian. Under zero pressure and manages to fk things up.
Undecided about Ayew, ran about lots but no real threat; early though so ought to offer more, had little support in attack though.
Payet frustrating, no point delivering balls in if there's no body who can attack the crosses plus he gave the ball away too many times. Oppo have mostly sussed not giving away fouls that he can work from as well this season.
Ref was st, we've had problems with him in the past as you say. Very inconsistent and ignored several heavy tackles on WH players.

Apparently some Chinese team have whacked in a bid for Carroll and are going to offer him 300k per week!
Be interesting to see if anything materialises on that front.Last week I said:
Carroll is done I reckon - 4 to 6 weeks out in August and now we are a couple of days away from November. Club has been very quiet on that fron, which concerns me. China beckons in January I think, if he is recovered
Can't see it happening really - ignore the money for a moment, he has a young family in Essex - can't see them wanting to be uprooted to the other side of world or for him to go out there on his own.
They are media savvy so maybe an angle there.
Agree, it's all been oddly quiet though for ages; plus with him off the books we could potentially sign 10 more useless nobody's.

So our ex Chairman who has never been to the London Stadium thinks it's unfit for football:-

This from the silly bald tt who almost bankrupted us "The 69-year-old believes his approach would have proved more financially viable for the club..."
Off. You. fk.
Wembley tonight; hopefully see something of Cresswell on the pitch rather than having his time wasted by Southgate & not play.

To be fair to the Egg, he would know when something unfit for football appears. He sees one every day when he looks in the mirror.
For me it speaks volumes that he voices his opinion but has apparently never been to the new stadium.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
