For those with the old school small block chevys powering their Ultimas; long, short or has anyone opted for the electric water pumps?

It did need a bit of plumbing rework and some power, but efficient and IMO way better than a mechanical one.

Looks spot on that too. Decision made then; CSR and it looks like they do some accessories I also need.

Thanks guys and feel free to add more SBC pics!

The valve covers were originally polished ally until being exposed to salt one winter forcing me to make good. I cleaned them back and sprayed with crinkle coat paint, a lot lower maintenance!

I also fitted csr a few years back and used a Davis Craig speed control which controls engine temp by varying pump speed. so no stat. This works fab and stops the engine getting hot in prolonged traffic etc. Also has 2 min run on which I like!

Had a Moroso electric water pump only lasted for 4000 miles ,took it apart and was discusted with the design ,the magnets on the body for the armature were only glued on and had come unglued and wedged themselves against the body stopping rotation .looked up for any warrenty and was only for 30 days as its a racing part !.Replaced with an uprated mechanical one .

to be fair I had a similar problem with mine. The capacitor which stops the brushes sparking cam loose and jammed the pump. I always carry a spare motor now if I am on a long trip.

I've had a Craig Davies pump fitted on my LSX for a few years now I still have the mechanical pump but in traffic the mechanical pump is not doing a good enough job so the CD controller takes over and runs the electric pump and rad fans, it also runs on after switch off to kill any hot spots.
