Great at times, terrible at others, never really loved by the fans.
Terrible? Never really loved by the fans? I thought we were discussing Rooney?Frimley111R said:
Can't be. Rooney may not have some outstanding games but he was never terrible and not loved by fans? He's been our outstanding player of the past 10+ years and highest goal scorer!
I agree. Terrible? How? His first touch deserted him for a while, that's about it really. He got injured and the teams performed well enough without him. There's a massive fixation on Rooney and what he's doing with what little time he has left.

To be fair, in the last few seasons it's not been great at all apart from the odd moment / game in 10 - and there have been a couple of performances that could fairly be called terrible, but he's not alone in that. Of course over his whole career with us he has been brilliant, but it has tailed off significantly in the last years and really can't see how anyone can argue otherwise. It used to be the case that his bad games were very rare, surrounded by very good ones. Now it's quite the opposite - it's sad, but that's life.
He lost a lot of grace with some of the fans too with his antics over new deals - the "i want to leave" episode, the "want reassurance about the future of the team" incident. That's find when you are pulling up trees, but people will remember that when things start to drift. Unfortunately for Wayne that last episode coincided with the start of the visible drop in his form. The management issues with the club which meant he was never really dropped when he should have been also created a rod for his back - LVG's "My captain always plays" really didn't help Wayne at all.
That said I don't feel he's ever been really truly appreciated, and I think when people look back in time they will realise just how good he was for us. If he does leave then I'm sure most would certainly wish him all the best and thank him enormously for what he has done for us.
Also 5pm kick off? Whose bright idea was that? I assume TV to avoid the champions league, but at least we are on Wednesday so we get an extra day off ahead of Sunday.
If we can nick a goal tonight we should be golden, they would need 5 then and as shaky as our defence was at the weekend and last week we weren't that bad. I'd guess we will start a similar team to last week, but maybe Pogba & Zlatan on the bench again with Sunday in mind, allowing more pace up top for countering.

Don't know if Rooney goes this week or in the summer.

G was on Maureen's list when be arrived. Along with Pog and Ibra, who he got, and Stones, who he didn't . G in the summer would be no surprise.
Thankfully. Bailly much better purchase.Seems we have left all the pace on the bench for tonight and gone for experience. Fingers crossed.

And it did. Missed the last half hour Bailly sent off and misses the first leg. Balls.
Yeah, not a fan of early kickoffs lol. We did the job though, slight worry on some injuries but fingers x'd nothing serious. Bailly was suspended once he got his first booking, so really the red doesn't matter apart from giving him a bit of a extra breather before Sunday (and costing me some FF points ). We can just rotate someone else in the Europa for that game and Eric can cover in another game instead - we aren't short of opportunities right now .Excited to see who we get in the draw next.

When he comes back he'll still be one yellow away from another suspension. Excited to see who we get in the draw next.

The Sun are saying that the Chinese are willing to pay Rooney £1M a week.
I really didn't think he was the type to chase a few ££'s but fk me if he's offered this kind of money then bloody well good luck to him.
Makes sense for both parties. He will become a bit part player at Utd. That's probably not the best end to his career. I really didn't think he was the type to chase a few ££'s but fk me if he's offered this kind of money then bloody well good luck to him.
I guess he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. One the one hand I can fully imagine he wouldn't 'want' to go to China in preference to staying in the premier league - but at the same time he's clearly realised he is done at Utd in terms of being a regular player - so then you have to ask who else in the league would both want and, importantly, be able to sensibly afford him?
Apparently his agent Paul Stretford is in China, trying to hussle up some business also - so perhaps even the Chinese league are getting cold feet on him. Still, couldn't blame him at this point in his career for following the $$$, he has still won a heck of a lot. Maybe only the England caps record is niggling at him now and he would be waving goodbye to that if he does move that way.

No matter how much money you have £1m a week is A LOT!!! China is an amazing looking place and the experience could be a once in a lifetime opportunity. He can always come back when he wants, its not like money will be an issue I really didn't think he was the type to chase a few ££'s but fk me if he's offered this kind of money then bloody well good luck to him.
