Stuck record but Rojo has to come off at half time. He's worse than me.

What ORD said. He's abysmal at left back and we will concede more unless it's changed. Blind lacks pace, but will do so much better out there. Hard on Soton, it should be 2-2, but only consolation is we really can't play much worse...

Certainly can tell which team has been playing a lot of games of late and which has not though, we look knackered.

As much as it pains me to say it Ibra really is the perfect role model for any young footballer.
He's a fantastic player im pretty sure if you watched video footasge of the utd dressing room at half time you would see him cutting up the oranges

Having cancelled Sky, I haven't been watching - just keeping up with the incidents on Red Cafe.

De Gea looks pretty poor for both their goals - on current form, I'd have said Romero would have saved the first.

Got a really bad feeling about this one - just doesn't seem to be happening out there.

Good performance by Southampton, but pleased we ground that victory out. Ibra is pure class.

Well, they're you go. Ibracadabra. Incredibly harsh on Southampton, football really can be a bh. Not sure what to say really - we won, didn't deserve it yet the 3 goals we did score were pretty good. Our defence really has gone to ste in the last few weeks, not sure whats up there.

Anyway, first of many for JM hopefully - and may they all be more deserved than that one. party

Well done from a saints fan... Zlatan made the difference in my opinion and at time I think the Saints had you worried with balls from the byline. Gutted we lost, but you can't win them all

Yeah, you were all over us from the get go. I know we have played a lot recently, and maybe that had an impact, but there's no doubt which team probably deserved it more - but for the width of a post and a pair of specs for the linesman you would have got the result too. It made for an entertaining final though & thanks for the good sportsmanship too smile

That sums up my thoughts as well.

Whilst we can complain about being on the end of bad luck in games earlier this season, I think luck swung our way today, not sure we could have had any complaints had Southampton won that. It was a cracking game to watch though.

To be fair, if this isn't ruled out offside, the offside rule is a farce.

How can you be 'inactive' when you're in the bloody middle of the goalmouth?

Utd were poor throughout and Southampton played well. Utd looked tired, but the big story for me is the gulf in class between our good players and the dross. Ibra, Pogba and Carrick were in a different league. Rojo remains utterly dreadful.

Is this definitely the end for Rooney? Didn't get a look in during the biggest match of the season.

Except Bernard, who was the one offside, didn't touch it and wasn't even in De Gea's eyeline or way. Gabbiadini finished it and was behind smalling when the pass was made. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it didn't count (in a way), but we have suffered from these too and in my mind if we complain about bad decisions against us we need to be able to see when we benefit from them.

He was all set to come on when Ibra scored the winner, he even went nuts on the touchline. He will still play some part, but off the bench most likely from now- barring injuries or dead rubbers.

I understand this, but the rule is a farce when a player can be a couple of yards offside whist stood almost right in the middle of the 6 yard box, but be considered 'inactive'. If he was outside the 6 yard box, I could understand the decision - but if Gabbiadini had mis-queued, Bernard would have been 'active' and therefore offside - so you can only conclude he *was* interfering with play, as the defenders will have been watching him (Well, United's defence today, probably wasn't, but that's another story).

I think it was Shankly who said, "If he's not interfering with play, he shouldn't be on the pitch".

Yep, I sort of agree with you too - I don't really like the active / inactive thing simply because it creates this whole area for ref's to be inconsistent. But the law is what it is, rightly or wrongly, and I can't help but feel this time the interpretation was wrong if the offside was given against Bernard. If Gabbiadini was given offside then it's just plain wrong.

If the ball had somehow gone on to Bernard then yes, clearly active at that point and offside. Tbf none of our defenders had much of a clue, so probably didn't even know he was there.

I think it was more that Southampton played like the underdogs in a cup final would do. What they lacked in class they made up for in conviction. We were sort of the opposite. That said, after their second they seemed to settle/slow down a fair bit.

I didn't notice Rojo being poor but Martial, apart from one good run, was not having much of a game for us.
