Pretty slim I'd say. Certainly wouldn't put any money on it!

Highlight was Wijnaldums handball before the first goal going unnoticed - we dont often get them.

Couple behind me came over from Germany, she was a mad reds fan and it was the first ever visit for both of them.
Before the game they were excited over the warm up, the new stand etc jabbering away in German - then the game started .....
Sad, sadder, happier, very happy, sad is how the 90 mins played out - I mean I was fed up popping through the tunnel never mind travelling across countries and timelines !!! Saving grace and quite funny was - German jabber, odd LFC name, German Jabber - OOH John Bishop - German Jabber etc that made me laugh! (nothing else did)

It just doesn't seem to matter who the manager is, the players just can't get motivated to beat the so called lesser clubs for some reason, and it's been like that for years sadly.

I wonder what Klopp is thinking this evening. Taking off Coutinho and leaving on Can. Backing captain courageous when he seems incapable of playing a decent forward pass. Perhaps reflecting that he's not missing Mane. Have we won since he went by the way?

This team will do well to get top 4. We've over achieved because we have a very good coach. Unfortunately it's simple how to beat us whilst we don't have a wide player that can beat his man, something not really groundbreaking football. Just sit back with 11 behind the ball and then lump it to the big man up front.

We need a centre back to play alongside Matip. We need a full back to at least give us options with Milner, we need a central midfielder that can grab a game by the scruff of its neck and impose himself and we need a striker that suits our style of play.

Until we have those 4 players, particularly the midfielder, my honest opinion is at best we will be playing Thursday night football.

Not that I think FSG will invest in those 4 players. Even with the tv money and what's raised from selling Sakho. I am certain that winning the title is an irrelevance to their plans.

I quite respect your opinions RT (without wanting to upset the cognoscenti on here) but I'm not sure that winning the title is an irrelevance. Most things are money related in the PL - Kante would not have left for Chelsea if it was not money related otherwise. He realised it was a one off and Leicester would struggle this year. Plus the probable quadrupling in wages.

Liverpool are a big club. Winning the premiership is massive to the fans, especially those that have been waiting since its inception. Other big clubs have been waiting longer(us!!!). Winning the CL is all well and good but IMO most supporters of English clubs would rather win the league every year than the CL.

Just why do you think it's an irrelevance? Is it not being English and not understanding the game? (FSG not you!).

Double edit. Agree Henderson is completely overrated. And please don't quote stats anyone.

Don't think of it as a loss. Think of it as three points dropped. yes

As opposed to everything is fine so we don't even need to sign players or it's all just unlucky when we have had a poor spell after teams keep playing the same way against us? wink I would say RT is obviously overreacting on the latest game, but at the same time some people on here never seem to think there is a problem that needs fixing. In my view somewhere in the middle is the more correct place to be.
Who are these people who never think there is a problem? I thought pretty much everyone on here agrees and recognises where our weaknesses and deficiencies are. Some go on about those weaknesses more than others but we are mostly on the same page. The only time people have thought everything was great was when we were winning and playing well (no surprise there). That includes people who now criticise Klopp for making "basic selection/formation errors", slag off certain players and rant when their demands for signings don't happen as soon as we play poorly.

I don't think anyone on here thinks there isn't a problem that needs fixing. Even on good days, the problems are usually there.

Some people here just don't jump into the deep end after a bad result and trust that eventually those mistakes will be ironed out - by training or new personnel coming in at some point - this month/in the Summer etc. Today was a bad day at the office, after several others. We can all see what needs fixing.

My thoughts on winning the title an irrelevance for FSG. I think top 4 is enough for them if they can get there. The money means more for them than the silverware. Top 4 gets them the money. Winning the title for a team like ours means we have to invest in our squad, build on the few star players we have. Rather we seem to be in the habit of selling our best players and then using that money to buy 4 or 5 new players and repeat the cycle.

I genuinely believe we have a top class manager. Even the best get it wrong occasionally and I think Klopp got it wrong today.

But come on, we need players, it's obvious to all of us. Our net spend is actually in a surplus under Klopp. It's like going and buying a supercar and going looking for the cheapest petrol and part worn tyres.

To win the title we need to build on what we have. Push through, buy that player. Instead we seem to stall on the verge, time after time after time.

Supposedly easiest or toughest games are exactly that when written on paper but sometimes don't work that way.
I'm just blathering about the PL as a whole and not arguing.

Which best player have we sold to fund which 4 or 5 new players?

Klopp got it wrong today. That starting midfield trio doesnt work for me as we have seen in several games recently. It's far too predictable and one paced i.e slow, non are strong offensively. The three tried to pass us to sleep, at one point they all exchanged passes to each other inside the center circle! At home to Swansea it was over cautious. Once Can was removed we looked far more fluid and much more dangerous.
Hendo, Wijmaldum, Lallana is our most effective setup, so stick with it. Defending was awful once again, I dont understand why Matip wasn't played even if the ok came through late Friday. Both center backs had a torrid time against Llorente.

Flip, of course we can all see what needs fixing. And without bringing in players how can this be fixed? By the time Klopp coaches (if at all possible) Henderson to be half way decent in that deep lying role the risk is Coutinho and Mane will be gone. Why would they want to give their best years to a club that seems reluctant to go out and buy the talent it needs to move forward? And I'm not talking about Chelsea/Utf/City type signings. But there has to be better than what we have in at least 4 positions.
