I understand the frustration RT is trying to convey. It is frustrating as a Liverpool supporter, that the one thing we crave is the title, we come close to winning it on very few occassions when we have had a good team but just lacking one or two extra quality players to get us over the line.

Yesterday for me highlighted two areas in particular we are lacking. Without Mane there is no pace and no back-up to be called upon. Our central midfield is flat, in particular for me Can. We get a quality player in there who can dictate play going forward, we would still be in a position to challenge. It is frustrating when we have a team that is capable of challenging - which lets face it comes once every so often (2009, 2013, now) - we seem to just lack that extra bit of quality to get us over the line. Our team is 80% there; annoying that extra 20% is missing which can be fixed. If Coutinho goes, then so the boom-bust cycle of selling then buying 3 or 4 average potentials in the hope one is good apple. Constant rinse and repeat.

I am all for Klopp wanting to coach players to be better; but how much has our defence improved over the last 5 or 6 years since Carragher/Hyppia? Coach all you want but it seemingly isn't having an impact in certain areas. Klopp needs to buy; not impulsive buys but as he rightfully says the right type of player. But we need complete players too; not just ones to coach like Karius or Can or Moreno or the U23's coming through.

It is a balanace. Klopp is stuboorn in his approach at times and for me at least it is at the detriment of team and our results, which leads to fan frustration.

Not at all, teams play and we beat them but teams that defend I don't think we have an answer for.

Guy on the previous page summed it up nicely
So do you think opposing teams should play in a way that suits the way you play. ?
I think it was my post he was agreeing with? If so then you'll see it is our coaching/players who need to do something, not that we expect them to play to our strengths.

NRS said:
It's all very well to complain about them not playing football, but when it comes to it then winning is the important thing for clubs. So then it's up to our manager/ players and they either need to improve or change tactics to counter the 10 men defending and grab a few goals from our terrible defence.

I watched the Liverpool game yesterday & for most of the first half Swansea had all 11 players no higher than 30 or 40 yards from their goal line. The lesser visiting teams will all be playing this way to unsettle Liverpool's style of play.

As good as Liverpool have been this season they are becoming predictable ,

I thought Swansea & the way they played & set their stall up was pretty good yesterday.

My thoughts on winning the title an irrelevance for FSG. I think top 4 is enough for them if they can get there. The money means more for them than the silverware. Top 4 gets them the money.
Taking this bit separately, that's pretty much what Arsenal fans accuse their board of doing.... they get into the Champions League every year albeit sometimes by the skin of their teeth, gain the millions from the CL group stages, bomb out in the last 16 and then go again the following year. Every second or third year, buy a big name to keep the fans happy and Stan's your uncle!

I'm sure you earn many millions more finishing in the Top Four and playing three group stage games in the CL than you ever do winning the PL title. And like Arsenal have, you will now benefit from another 10k supporters in every week, that's a few quid too.

There is a lot of truth in both these quoted statements, sadly. Add to the buy young, cheap... turn into stars and sell-on model.

I'd love to see RT 'enjoying'' a game in the stands. I bet he ruins many a supporters day. Even when you're playing well and winning. Shouting 'coward' at your own captain for example.

Very hard to understand.

I think that's very fair and true.

We're still doing alright in my eyes though but maybe I'm easily pleased.

Yeah I think Henderson might not have been a natural choice for Captain in the eyes of many but he is growing into the role. And the last thing I would EVER accuse him of is being a coward; I just don't see it, after watching him go into 1:1 tackles numerous times (which is part of the job in midfield, clearly. I think his game suffers a bit with Can alongside as Can just doesn't seem to have kicked on in the last year or so. This may be partly at least to how Klopp wants them both to play and the instructions they're given of course. Hard to comment without knowing what instructions the players are given.

Just can't get my head around a supporter saying such things about your own team, even though results havnt been great in January.

You support your team through thick and thin, yes you have the right to be upset and disappointed when results don't go your way, but to say such things? Makes a total mockery of the end of match sing song you lot do.

"YNWA. Except you there, turd, coward".

Inconceivable.

Sadly the irony has always been there that some will sing their hearts out with that anthem and then 5 minutes later scream abuse at the players.

Beats me...

Get to a game and you'll hear far worse.

Henderson is a coward. Time after time he refuses to play the forward pass. The frustration towards his is significant at Anfield. I'm sure his opta stats look good though.

Passing the ball backwards and waving his hands to Lovren to try and play the forward pass. I'm certain I didn't imagine that.

Been sat in the same place for years. The guy behind me brought his grandson to his first game yesterday. I'll probably take my daughter to her first game either this summer or next. The same 20 or so of us have sat next to each other for a long time. None of us took the option of a seat in the main stand.

Liverpool have had some outstanding captain's in their time. The only reason Henderson became captain was because Mr Rodgers wanted a yes man on the pitch.

I'm sure Klopp has his own reasons for keeping him in that role. In a midfield 3, Henderson is the runner, the legs. He's not the leader nor has he the talent to dictate a game.

Even without buying anyone our central midfield would become much much better if we lined up with Milner, Henderson and Lallana. At least then the natural leader on the pitch would be on his preferred position. But we don't because penny pinching FSG won't release the funds for a decent left back. And don't anyone dare even suggest Moreno can be coached.

I'm not convinced we have anyone that screams of captain material.

Milner to me would be a natural Skipper - but perhaps he doesn't want that role. Maybe vice captain is as much as he will accept. Has he ever skippered any of his other teams?

If you went to a game where the play doesn't just follow the ball you'd realise how that's just nonsense. He's the natural leader on the pitch, the other players look to him and he doesn't hide. I'd so much prefer to see him in midfield rather than left back. In fact with Mane out, Milner would be better wide forward than moving Lallana there.

That you have no true, obvious captain on the pitch is no reason to say the things you've been saying. I'm sure if you went out to pub tonight for a quite drink and Henderson walked in you wouldn't walk up to him and call him a coward to his face.

Why would I? I can differentiate between a coward on a football pitch who I pay to watch and a bloke who comes in to the pub for a drink.

Plenty of players get called st house at a stadium. Coward is a more civil way of describing a player that seems to struggle to play the ball forward. I'm happy for one of our stats posters to prove me wrong by the way.

Ah yes. That's a good call and a better option.
