I agree completely with your first paragraph.
However, why a LB we have Millie there who has settled into that role really well, it could be argued that his impact/stability there has helped us as much as him being a midfielder would have! I get he is a midfielder and he plays well there yes, but to me he has shown that he can play LB so well why move him now. I honestly think he has been our most consistent player this season, and I cannot see why you would change that?
Also this keeper crisis we have, what has mings done wrong this season so far? He has improved and I honestly feel that he has stepped up to the challenge, I am not saying he is amazing every keeper has a weakness, no single player is perfect. Who is available that could better him?
Totally agree Josh - when our defence is anything but solid why would you probably move out propbably the most solid defender - we could sign a new LB and it take him a while to settle - makes more sense to buy another top CM atm for me - just cant see many being let go in Jan However, why a LB we have Millie there who has settled into that role really well, it could be argued that his impact/stability there has helped us as much as him being a midfielder would have! I would have thought Klopp would want a sale? Similar to Sakho.

Hm? You seem to have misunderstood my post. I haven't said we should replace Milner straight away. If you look at what I suggest it is no different from what Klopp is doing now with Moreno - playing him in the weakened cup sides. It's just in my opinion Moreno has had around 3 years with us and hasn't really shown improvement in defence, so I would sign someone else to see if they can improve on him. Then IF they did a good job it opens the possibility to move Milner if we want him elsewhere. It's not saying we should sign someone and swap Milner straight away - just if the new signing proved themself. Put it this way - if we don't sign a new LB at some point then Milner will retire or have a long term injury at some point. Then we have to replace him with Moreno... I'd much rather use the time now to make a new signing to see if they work in small cup games rather than starting from scratch once Milner is gone. However, why a LB we have Millie there who has settled into that role really well, it could be argued that his impact/stability there has helped us as much as him being a midfielder would have! Again you're reading what you think I am saying, not what I said. I just said to get a world class (such as Lloris, David De Gea etc) would be great, but I don't think we would get one like that. It's the same as what you are saying.
We can't compete with a midfield 3 who all like to pass it sideways and backwards to each other. It's obvious why people want to see Milner in midfield.
Also, come on, if he trusted Moreno then he'd have played against Utd with Milner going right back and the same against bottom of the table Swansea. Instead Clyne played with injections. If Moreno can't start against a bottom of the league team that says it all. Can't believe we've not sold him or loaned him back to Spain.
I actually don't think we need much money to make this squad competitive. There's easily around 100 million of over rated or not fit our system, once first choice players, that we could sell.

Hi RT.Not sure about that.
Who would you realistically sell for 100m and replace with? we all know the squad is paper thin as it is, so whomever we sell we need to replace and still invest more to give us enough squad depth.
It's not a case of replacing like for like, we actually need some decent squad players. As much as it pains me Tottenham are where we need to be in terms of a squad.

That 1 more summer Posch a has had is very telling when it comes to squad strength... does anyone else realistically think after another full summer of moves out and in our squad would be that much if at all weaker than spurs?
Conte is proving you don't need an extra summer. I accept Chelsea have got a couple of top players but if you analyse the rest of the team they're no better than the rest of the top 6. Alonso seemed like a West Bromwich type signing. Moses was forgotten and seemed distinctly average on his loan outs. Pedro was the laughing stock at the Bridge derided by home fans. The truth is all you had to was beat Swansea then Chelsea and it would be game on. The margins between us are small. You can't blame losing to Swansea on an extra summer, squad depth, average wage bill or anything else. You have as much capacity to be champions as Chelsea but you've screwed up. Stop searching for excuses.

Sorry that is bks..Posch and Klopp have needed to re structure a whole squad, 85% of Chelsea's was still there they had just all stopped playing for Mourinho The truth is all you had to was beat Swansea then Chelsea and it would be game on. However I'd keep playing Henderson in the League/ important cup games and then play the replacement in the smaller games to get them used to the team. If they stand out there then potentially move Milner back into midfield so he can contribute with his assists like before. If the new person is rubbish then move Milner back again if needed.
I just dont think its worth it, Milner is having a good enough impact at the back why start moving him around? But I can see your point! I agree with your point about Moreno in the last post. Do we have any youngsters maybe Flanagan? that we can bring through? Wouldnt mind giving Moreno a shot for a full 90 mins against Southampton tbh see how he does!
And the keeper comment was not directed at you just in general! Yes we agree 100% on that point by the looks of it!
