The point I was trying to make was not if he would choose us over PSG , it was if we want to win anything we have to be making offers that make him think - not low balling at 90/100k when they are offering 150k
To make (most) players think we will need to offer more than the top clubs - otherwise they will just chose them anyway if it is the same money but less chance of success/ different location.desolate said:
Chaps it's all about the money for 99% of players.
If Burnley were taken over by Saudi Arabia the players would come.
Money and success - which are usually related to each other. So if Burnley got bought over they'd have to spend a lot of money to show they were serious about winning titles and have a chance to do so.If Burnley were taken over by Saudi Arabia the players would come.

Please show me a successful team that underpays for a big player? It really doesn't happen.
The odd player will play for love but most do what is best for the bank balance.
And who can blame them?

too simplistic though - its a combination of cash, prospects, team mates, stature of club, locationIf Burnley were taken over by Saudi Arabia the players would come.
£100k/week at Burnley
v
£90k/week at Liverpool
Liverpool win
£100k/week at Liverpool
v
£90k/week at Spuds
Clubs viewed similarly in recent history, both good managers, similar CL and league prospects = London might swing it

200k somewhere decent ish
150k Liverpool.
Or
200k Liverpool
400k China
It's not about 1 quid a week extra.
That's before incentive payment schemes.
Until recently I worked for a fairly major football agency.

I'd say not very much. It would probably have to be say:
200k somewhere decent ish
250-300k Liverpool.
That would be to get them to give up playing for one of the big clubs who will be much more likely to win consistently over several seasons.
I'm not sure it's entirely about the money for every player. Sure, I think that's probably the leading factor in the majority of transfers (along with paying the agent the most to influence the player too). But we signed Mane when he had equal financial offers elsewhere and we lost out on Sanchez when he had an equal offer from us. Coutinho could have likely matched his wage at another good club in Europe, or bettered it abroad.

Scientists proved there is a link between heading a ball and Alzheimer’s after Tottenham players couldn’t remember the last time they won something.
You've only won 1 trophy since we won our last and that was five years ago.........jammy-git said:

I’m expecting a very busy summer. I’d be very surprised if Klopp didn’t sign 5/6 players, he 100% needs to buy a top striker. (James Pearce)
As long as its not 5 or 6 of tomorrow's maybes.I'd also expect 5 or 6 exits as well - Sturridge, Lazer, Can, Sakho, Moreno and Mignolet are nearly all on big money (well for us anyway).
