And then not quite so st (1-1)

And then unbelievably st (2-1)

Just need Luton to lose their next few games, PL to go easy on us, and, dare I say, start winning fking football matches.

At least 2 of those are unlikely...(Luton have a tough run)

I'd pegged 4 points as a minimum requirement from these 3 games (preferably 5). Hopefully Newcastle have a few injuries and also Gordon suspended and we can nick a point there but they will be buzzing after that favourable VAR decision turned it round vs West Ham.

Burnley at home a must win (or sack the manager)
Not arsed if they sack him now tbh.... although it will probably be the first time in a long time our "new manager bounce" doesn't pay off though

Edit: meant to post this;

Everton have conceded 4 goals in the 90th minute (plus added time) in their last 4 games, losing 4 points doing so. #EFC

We are just going from bad to worse if that’s possible.

If we think things are bad now, they'll be even worse if we get relegated

Latest accounts are concerning. I know there's a large amount that is down to the new stadium, and then there's the womens team etc etc. But wages to turnover is somewhat concerning.

I really do fear for the club if we get relegated

Presumably these accounts form the basis of the PL's current review which is considering a further points deduction? I don't pretend to understand the detail of Everton's finances but if the headline numbers being reported are accurate it suggests there's been a further deterioration from last year? If that's the case - and the previous overspend was considered large enough to merit a 6 point deduction - potentially that doesn't sound great for you, especially if any further points deduction was applied this season...

There was one stat which jumped out, wages + amortization was 124% or something mad like that.

I can't see how, we've already stripped down to the bare bones, albeit still a few big contracts.

Allowable PSR expenses should get that down. Amateur Twitter sleuths think we are about 20m over the 3 year reporting period. Which should mean, as it's less than Forests, a maximum of 4 points. Not a given though unfortunately

About time we got given a pen like that. (Ie Stonewall smile )

(EDIT: Comparison of the Garnacho pen given against us, and the one we didn't get Saturday here>>). https://twitter.com/RyanSoccerAA/status/1774885788...

Rode our luck at times and Pickford Motm but a great point on the road. A building block?

Was going to post earlier that we weren't playing that badly, but we're behind again. 3 pts from losing positions all season (4 now!!), only Burnley worse with 2

3 pts essential Saturday

Wonder if our sanction gets leaked / announced now, or they wait til after the Burnley game?

A rare win! Shame Bournemouth couldn't do us a favour against Luton.

I wonder if we find out about our second points deduction next week?

We made hard work of that. Not changed my mind on Beto, he is a gangling long legged useless lump of crap.

Surplus to requirements if DCL stays fit (Chermiti can come on for the last 10-15 mins).Suppose that is (or was at the time of signing) a big if though.

I see "Super" Ellis Simms scored again. 12 from 8

Are we really not able to dominate the ball and create pressure at home to Burnley?

Think we hear Monday on the deductions. If they are throwing out point deductions for minorish breaches they should give us and Forest our points back, together with a massive apology. "Luxury tax"??? WTF

https://www.google.com/search?q=luxury+tax+premier...

(Used a Google search link to capture a range of different headlines / opinions)

Personally I think they are on the right lines currently, but with more consideration to mitigations. Thus, in my world, both us and Forest would have avoided deductions - us because we weren't cheating, we were building a stadium (first in the PSR era?) and Forest because they didn't have a squad. Chelsea and City can gtf to league 1, pronto. (Having my cake and eating it I guess?)

Although if we are redesigning the system from the bottom up, I'd have all clubs can spend X amount, not x% of turnover - where X is the current midpoint, or the 6th club, or something.

Then promoted teams can have a big(ger) budget if their owner is ambitious, and it might just reign the big six in a bit. Will obviously never happen - mainly for those exact reasons... rolleyes I wonder if there's the will to push something similar through from the "Little" 14 clubs? Meanwhile the 3 promoted teams to go straight back down again next season?? I wonder if the 14 recognise this and think that's a good thing??

Don’t come in here as often as I should, it’s just too difficult to take but I admire your humour and loyalty. Looks like DCL is finally finding some form, I’ll tune into MOTD tonight. Xx

As 3 seems to be the min for breaking the rules, you must have been nice to them to get a reduction. I wonder if you will appeal?

ETA, seems you have already appealed.

On our original deduction the PL said it was 6 points for breaching the rules. I'm not complaining about 2 points, but the PL really are making this st up as they go along

There doesn’t seem to be much logic to these deductions.

3 is minimum (?) yet you get two, it’s also the second offence in short order while Forest got 4. I’m not arguing that you deserve more btw just that there surely needs to be some consistency in application of the rules. It seems very arbitrary.

Yup, and Everton take note of this lack of consistency in their press release.
