He had players sold from under him year after year at Burnley. I really hope we're only a season or 2 off being on a decent financial footing.

If we can get away with selling Onana and a clear out of the end of contract big earners like Dele and keep Branthwaite that would perfect. We really need to build a team around him if we can.

I also thought Chermiti did OK yesterday having been thrown in to the game with hardly any minutes this season. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong on my 'why the fk did we sign this bloke' thoughts

Unfortunately I think Branthwaite will be gone, his sale will be all profit and likely offset any points deduction for next season. I know I’m a broken record, but the whole PSR thing is a farce. It’s interesting that it turned clubs like Forest and Leicester against us, typical and myopic, they’re all looking the wrong way.

I’m not convinced Hilly the game is skewed, just look at the fines handed out to the clubs looking to break away when compared to those allegedly in breach of PSR rules.

Dyche’s post match comments are sobering, situation far worse than as described, fighting on and off the pitch and of course the point deductions. I think he’s committed to us but it would be a concern if he walked, it’s possible especially if we have to sell and if he’s being courted.
I don’t think we can speculate until we know who the new owners are going to be, and even then I would not be totally sure what’s gonna happen. We have had so much uncertainty and false dawns since 2016. I just want to see us on a stable footing with owners who are transparent and honest to the fans and the club

I agree. The PL can say look how we're punishing clubs, we dont need external controls. They're like Oprah 'you get a points deduction, you get a points deduction, you can have one next season and hey, Everton, you can have another points deduction'. Meanwhile Chelsea sell 2 hotels to,er Chelsea to help balance the books on a billion quid spending spree and that's OK?

I'd dearly love to see City suitably punished, and I'm hopeful they will be. However we all know they won't be

I really hope it’s not 777 Partners mate, they are crooks. Their budget Aussie airline, ‘Bonza’ has just filed for administration and had their fleet of aircraft seized leaving passengers stranded. Rumours are that having bled Standard Liege dry they are now up for sale, meanwhile the PL are still considering their suitability.

Surely with a new ground and PL status secure, we can find a better option than this bunch of chancers?

I hope we don't get bought buy 777, however they have lent us a st ton of money over the past year or so which makes things difficult. From what I've read, they need Everton and the new stadium as capital to keep everything else afloat. MSP could have taken us over under a contract clause in money owed, but they extended the deadline instead. I honestly can't see how the PL haven't told 777 to bugger off yet. Although that would leave us in a massive hole financially....

I see Dyche has said this is his best season yet and that we don't know half of the issues off field. We're in a right old mess, we really need to give him a contract extension as I think we'd be shafted without him in charge.

There has to be something about these 777 people I certainly hope they do not take over our club, but as said they have put a fair amount of money in the club which makes things difficult. We could hope the PL block the move but then where does the money come from while we await new buyers, it’s no doubt a terrible mess

I see Dyche is one of three candidates for April manager of the month, along with Pep and Arteta. What are the odds he gets the most votes and then gets a points deduction?

In a similar vein, is golden glove award settled by clean sheets or does it go to a vote? Pickford's made way more saves. Reya has been protected by 10 world class players in front of him, largely keeping the ball out of harms way.

Chelsea in for Pickford btw. Well, rumoured. Not sure it's the right move for him or I'd let him go with my blessing, he deserves a top 4 club. Hope we're not in the situation that we have to sell.

Not really fair on Onana that literally every Everton fan is like "get shot of him to pay the bills". Can't endear us much to him. But if we just sell him, we'll have had a result (ie keep Branthwaite)

Financial situation still unclear. Although we don't seem to be in a particularly good place. Rumours over the last few days aren't great. Are we good, for this season at least? Apparently should the worse happen it's too late for this season so we'd start next year on -9. All in all, a somewhat familiar position frown

I think golden glove is done on clean sheets, like golden boot is most goals scored.

I'm also not sure if Chelsea can actually biy Pickford and still meet PSR unless they sell a boat load of players. But I can see both Onana and Branthwaite going to keep the club afloat frown

We're in such a fking mess

I know. And, fundamentally, I don't know why. Unless it's the stadium? We've cut the squad, cut wages. There's not much left to cut unless we get a team of youngsters on 10k a week, and lose every match 6-0.

Trying to think of a good example. Bournemouth. How do they manage? Crowds of about 13k IIRC. Guess they've got no mega earners, but they've been established long enough that most will be on 40-50k, with a couple on big money I'd have thought. Not massively dissimilar to ourselves.

So it must be the stadium.

Hope we turn up tonight. As said, Luton must want it more. They score freely and conceed a lot. Could be anything, hope it's a pleasant watch (unlikely!) and we come out on top. Extra couple of mill at stake (league position) to feed into the meter if nothing else. Sky appearance money too I believe, we must be loaded after the last fortnight biggrin (Let's give the biggest clubs the most TV money scratchchin)

Oh and Carra said in the build up "if Luton stay up, I can't see why Barkley would leave. Yes he might get more money elsewhere but that's not important...better to be a main player in a team built around you..." Clearly doesn't know ball...

Don’t forget Phil the higher up we finish the more money we get, and boy do we need every penny.

Solid point smile

Backs against the wall for large parts of the 2nd half though. Branthwaite and Pickford in particular were brilliant, Tarks very good too

Carra "it's obvious that it shouldn't take 8 months to decide on fit and proper owners" - well quite. So why haven't the PL or Moshiri binned them? And would that even be a good thing?

We owe them so much money that I don't think we can afford to bin them off. Moshiri has either a) run out of money or b) no longer wants to put money in to the club. I'm guessing it's the former as we all know it was Usmanov behind the scenes.

And whilst talking of our beloved (?) owner, it sounds like he's not really around much these days. I can't remember if I heard it on Talkste or the price of football podcast, but it sounds like he's absent at the moment.
