Bad reflection on Heathrow airport.
The team could have made an appearance out front, those who attended could have looked at previous form and realised the team wouldn't appear - you can't put all the blame on Heathrow.
Doesn't Heathrow have a specific vip management team or have I made that up?
I assumed the Heathrow people (I must admit that I don't know who, which might be the problem) would a) know which flight it was b) know if there were people waiting, then c) find out if the players were planning to meet the people.
What do they do with that info? Tell them to go away or tell them to get around the back to see those who aren't meant to be seen?
Maybe point but to the Lionesses that people were waiting and see if a couple might want to make an appearance to say thanks for the massive support. It's the first (well apart from Erp's Shirtgate) ever so slightly negative thing I've seen wrt the team.

I'm surprised they didn't come out of the front door personally. Still, might mean they have something else planned - not sure a runners up bus tour is appropriate, they aren't Ipswich Town!!

Tell them they aren't going to see anyone because they are leaving by another route.

Not Heathrow's responsibility.

But a sensible, kind and respectful thing to do if nobody wanted to front up. I'm sure they've done less relevant things for VIPs

This should have been done by the publicity arm of the England squad surely? They knew their own movements.

You're 100% correct of course. Yes it's their ultimate accountability, no question. Guess they didn't care enough even to ask Heathrow to do it? Maybe Heathrow didn't suggest it because it's nothing to do with them at all. Maybe someone got something wrong.

But it didn't happen, and it could and probably should have, as I said. That's a shame, that's the point. Even when the England team had gone and there were kids and parents stood in Arrivals in England shirts and facepaint nobody told them, it seems. Because not their job, perhaps?

Er ... yes, I know. It's called being nice to people though isn't it?

It is a shame, whatever the details. It would have been nice to get the recognition/plaudits on the way home.

It is - but no good deed goes unpunished. You just know there'll be some harsh words directed towards the poor chump letting them know.

Great comeback smile

Can anybody explain why the Netherlands have to lose their last game for us to go through?

Erm no, not exactly, England take on Netherlands while Scotland travel to Belgium

Watched both matched (while listening to the radio as the Scotland match had a Gaelic commentary.

Thoughts, overall, for both games, all four teams, skill was sparse, passing both long and short balls atrocious. Long punts forward up the wing so far ahead of the intended receipient that an olympic runner would struggle to get it. Possibly as the defence were playing offside to their advantage. When a cross was put in towards goal finishing was non-existent.

England were dreadful first half, the defence totally disorganised but improved dramatically second half and took control, no idea how the turn around happened.
Scotland were OK, got an away draw but that wasn't enough to get them through. Missed chances gallaw.

Entertainment value (out of 10) 6. Pleased I had the radio one.

Not sure why England's second goal (Hemp) was allowed, Stanway was offside.

Scotland tonight on BBC1

Interesting game as it could benefit the Scotland players if England win, as part of a GB olympic team

Or if Scotland win potentially prevent a GB Olympic team at all. Ridiculous position to put the players in.

No more than we deserve at the moment. This could have been 5 or 6.

Do the Scotland players have a convo at half time about "if the score is 3 or 4 nil with 5 to go ... "

I mean it's a stupid situation to be in. The Nations League is throwing this up twice recently with the Ireland needing to lose in the men's game. Weirdly both affected the Netherlands.
