Oh well. Was hoping it would go all the way to penalties as an entertaining spectacle but will lose no sleep over the result.

Fingers crossed we get a Manchester derby in the semi-final as should provide a decent distraction for City along with the Real Madrid CL QF games.

Oi Mystic Meg, I noticed you’ve not been back to the United thread since kickoff. We’ve been worried about you.
Apart from my post at 18.05 congratulating you?
Missed that, apologies. Over excited, I really didn’t expect to win today, especially once your second goal went in.

What a game. Never saw the result coming during the second half, thought you were going to pick us off but luckily for us it didn’t happen.

This is our last chance of a trophy and you’ve still got three other chances, so let us have one. biggrin

You're welcome, now about those 3 points?

I think Coventry will be relieved at that draw.

Great game. Still not fussed about the result but really wondering how we lost that. Utd were ready to be buried and we kept picking them up. Very strange performance, like others have said.

I think we beat ourselves today, rather than being beaten by a better side. Utd clearly needed that win though. Fair play.
Sorry to quote your post Flip… others have said similar both today and in the lead up… yours was the just 1st example I came across

I really don’t get this attitude… it’s kind or indicative of how we played today… like we weren’t really bothered.

I can’t understand how we wouldn’t be bothered about going out like that and ever not care about losing to out biggest rivals.

No apology necessary, really. I suppose Klopp has rarely prioritised cups and that's worn off on me a bit, especially if we're going for other things - and bearing in mind our injuries record. I think I said in the thread "always nice to beat Utd but still not bothered today". Just couldn't get excited about it. I celebrated when our 3rd went in but then just shrugged when we gifted them the last 2 goals.

What I don't get - like you - is why the team played that way. I've seen Elliott especially give away balls that lead to goals but why we committed 9 forward for a corner when it was 3-3, I just don't understand. And Gakpo went back to being anonymous. Diaz at least looked like he was trying. But overall we just looked like we didn't care enough.

As you've said yourself previously Chris, PL>EL>FA>EFL. We've already won the EFL, have bigger things to concern ourselves with over the next few weeks and in all honesty I haven't considered MU our biggest rival for quite some time.

With where we are now I would always consider the domestic cups as a "nice to have". We won them both in 22 and my only memory of that season is narrowly losing out on the PL and CL.

Real shame. Would have loved to see them lift a quadruple.
Same, and I'm sad about that to be honest.

He is the perfect example of the "YouTuber enslaved to the algorithm's need for the channel owner to be a knob to attract viewers". Hard to take him seriously. He's rather like any forum bore but with a video camera.

Which reminds me - have all the Spurs lot been banned from here? They've not been here in ages.

Haven't considered United as our biggest rival is one thing. Going to Old Trafford and letting them off the hook time and time again and not being bothered otherwise is another.

Jesus, I remember the 90s all too well, I'd have loved to have knocked them out of their only competition left at their place.

History is not on our side in that regard though.

That rivalry with Utd only got really bitter and twisted in the Fergie era. And has been more an issue for them than us since they went a bit cacky.

Hypothetically going through to the semis, presumably then beating Cov and facing a potential 120 mins match against City at the end of the season when we're going for the PL and possibly Europa League is not something I'd be happy with. Far better (in my eyes) to have a couple of matches less to play now.

Sorry mate, but this is just bks… clearly we didn’t prioritise this game as we put out the strongest team possible… there was no downside from winning as we had 2 weeks until out next game.

Yes, the FA Cup comes after the PL and EL, but doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.

Are you seriously saying you are happy you lost today?

Not at all. There's a difference between "not bothered" and "happy".

Just not as bothered about it being in the FA Cup. If we lose at OT in the league in a few weeks - different story.

This… I’m still so fking angry with our 2nd half complacency.

I don’t see how you can be a fan of our club and not be in pain after losing to United in that manner… then add in it was a FA Cup quarter final… WTF is up with people?

Priorities. If we play like that in the Prem I'll be more than annoyed. If we win the Prem I won't even remember much about today.
