As you've said yourself previously Chris, PL>EL>FA>EFL. We've already won the EFL, have bigger things to concern ourselves with over the next few weeks and in all honesty I haven't considered MU our biggest rival for quite some time.

With where we are now I would always consider the domestic cups as a "nice to have". We won them both in 22 and my only memory of that season is narrowly losing out on the PL and CL.
Sorry mate, but this is just bks… clearly we didn’t prioritise this game as we put out the strongest team possible… there was no downside from winning as we had 2 weeks until out next game.

Yes, the FA Cup comes after the PL and EL, but doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.
I'm talking from a fans perspective, not Klopp or the team. We looked tired late on today, and I'm glad that things caught up with us in the FA Cup and not a game that IMHO actually matters.

Appreciate not every fan will feel the same, but there you go.

My last comment of the night or I’ll end up getting myself banned

If we hadn’t spent our time fking about and showing off in the 2nd half, we’d have been 2 or 3 up and able to cruise through the last 15 mins.

Agree with above, should have won it in the second half
Especially the break when we had 5 versus 2

They had plenty of chances also. We weren't out our best at either end of the pitch so thankfully it wasn't a PL game or I would have been fuming.

Snap, I bloody annoyed

Whilst City are our rivals currently losing to United is always painful. Yes we skip a couple of games in a hectic schedule but we lose winning momentum.

Well done United who played better than I’ve seen for a while, but the calamitous way we have away the last two goals was awful

I’ll have to correct you there Adam. There was nothing calamitous from where I was sat. And it looked delicious!

Unlucky today but you’d rather Klopp left with the league and you’ve now a better chance of that.

It was a culmination of a difficult couple of months where we have done brilliantly despite issues with many injuries and a punishing schedule. Lots of players looking understandably tired or not as sharp as they can be due to extended time in the treatment room.

As above hopefully that's out of the way now and fortunately it came in the FA Cup, even if the opponent was Utd. If we play like that on the 7th at OT I'll have a very different response..

He is the perfect example of the "YouTuber enslaved to the algorithm's need for the channel owner to be a knob to attract viewers". Hard to take him seriously. He's rather like any forum bore but with a video camera.

Which reminds me - have all the Spurs lot been banned from here? They've not been here in ages.
He really is a knob. Very cringeworthy bloke.

I agree with that. I didn't enjoy watching those mistakes or the lackadaisical attitude. As angry as you are about that, it will pale next to how Klopp felt about it I'm sure. I would much rather see us win obviously and I don't enjoy seeing us lose to anyone. I just couldn't work up much enthusiasm for the hyped "quadruple" or the knockout rounds in either of the 2 domestic cups (although the way we ultimately won the league cup was really special).

I don't expect everyone to agree with me - just the way I felt about it this season.

That summed up the team today, that 5 on 2 break. Usually we're lethal. Today we looked like we really weren't bothered. Shoddy.

I don't think the "not bothered" comment is fair TBH. The squad has done exceptionally well under challenging circumstances recently and I didn't personally see a lack of effort today, just a lack of energy and cutting edge.

Every team has off days, it's the timing of them that makes the difference.

Ha I’m sure it was, nice draw for you too, good luck in the final vs City

The one thing that baffles me is leaving 1 defender back in the 120th minute, after we looked knackered since the 75th minute?

At least take it to penalties ffs! We displayed some of our best & worst traits today, someone before has described it perfectly, Jekyll & Hyde… Worst thing is we gifted it to them after getting ahead twice.

Can’t agree with not being bothered, this one hurts, especially as it was ours to lose. Game management is the big take away from this. Gakpo is starting to disappoint, only seems to score the 3/4th goal in a rout, never the critical ones.

On reflection, I think this loss is on Klopp. I was surprised like many, that he went as strong as he did on Thursday night for effectively a dead rubber, knowing that Sunday's game was less than 3 days away and would largely feature the same starting players and in a game that had the potential to extend beyond 120 minutes. Tired legs hurt us in the end and cost us the game.

Could Klopp have fiielded a mixture of kids/squad/Salah on Thurs - and then subbed on first XI players late on in the game or as needed depending on how the match played out? The other day I praised the first XI for their performance first half against Sparta and their excellent show of mentality - which it was - but did it really need to be?

I’m kind of with Flip on this one. Yes for the first 10 mins after that game I was absolutely fuming, we got what we deserved out of that game. And it’s so frustrating to not put games to bed. Some credit to United who didn’t give up.
Having said all that, I’m over it now an just glad it wasn’t 3 points we lost. At the end of every year the cups are seen as a bonus. We are still in what I would consider 2 bigger competitions and our efforts should go on those (not that we have any choice now anyway).

I was surprised by that also, your guys did look tired today, I expected a pasting tbh. There wasn't that much threat towards the end of extra time when we only had 2 defenders and a crocked Bruno at the back.

We've played 9 games in 30 days during an injury crisis. In that time we've won 7, drawn to City despite dominating them and lost to MU after 120 minutes and subsequently are cup winners, joint top of the PL on points and in the QF of the Europa.

I'll take that all day long at this point in the season.

I suspect tiredness is one reason perhaps why Klopp said they "gave everything" when clearly we were well below our best.

Doesn't explain why 9 players went up for that last corner though, that was just bloody stupid.

A last minute throw of the dice that had we scored from it would have seen no-one complaining about the obvious risk. Small margins and all that.

Penalties are always a a crap shoot so why not give it a go?
