Sven did say he was in tears when they were singing YNWA before the game. Looked a bit teary at the end too. Torres looked a bit of a donkey tbh but finally got his goal near the end.
Funny how some players, like Aggar and Skrtel, don't look much different and yet others definitely look 20 years older (step forward Igor) Good to see them all anyway.

Harvey Elliott was on the scoresheet twice for England U21's today meaning he's got 7 goals from 6 games. Decent return for a midfielder (albeit the standard of opposition has been a few levels below what he's used to).
He's a very talented young man , surprised he's no in the senior set up TBH The "Inside Anfield" vid from the Legends match - plenty of coverage of Sven, unsurprisingly. The roar that went up when he came out on the pitch was quite something.

Yup, have to say I just about remembered Vignal and couldn't remember El Zhar playing for the first team at all (although he did). Ironically they scored the best of our goals on the day.
I did feel a bit for Vignal though when he greeted Klopp, who had been hugging everyone. Klopp gave him a brief hug but it really looked like he had no idea who he was.

Interesting "spending a day with" with MacAlister. Comes across as pretty grounded, quiet and shy. Not your usual PL footballer.

Hmmmm, if Leverkusen can keep their squad together then it's probably a smart move. Personally, I think it's the right decision Alonso has made. He's building something very special at Leverkusen, 3rd bottom when he took them over last season, somehow qualified them for Europe and built a team this season on a relative shoestring. He knows he is new to this managerial game, needs to develop further and actually parking aside emotion, it's the right decision for him to build his experience and continue building Bayer.
No quotes from the man himself - this all seems to have come out of Uli Hoeness saying Bayern didn't expect to get him and they expect him to stay at Leverkusen - but yeah tbh, putting the hype to 1 side it makes far more sense for him to stay there at least 1 more season. Consolidate what he's doing this season. He's still very inexperienced as a boss.
Does make you wonder who WILL be on our shortlist though...

May well end up being the case for various reasons, but wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Hoeness' mouth personally. He has plenty of previous for this kind of thing as is of course completely motivated by what is best for Munich.Does make you wonder who WILL be on our shortlist though...
The next manager will almost certainly be from a shortlist of 3
Alonso
Amorim
De Zerbi
Amorim an interesting one. Only 39, took over at Lisbon at 35 and won the title with them for the first time in 20 years in his second season breaking up the dominance of Porto and Benfica, and is looking like he might do it again this year. He's also got decent European competition experience having played in the EL or CL every season he's been in charge and getting through to the knock out stages on 3 occasions. They knocked Arsenal out last season on penalties in the round of 16.
Chelsea and Spurs have both tried to bring him in previously, but he understandably turned them down.
