Now that was a tough watch. Got excited after the early penalty, should have know better the way we're playing at the moment.
Some fresh ideas, motivation and personnel required. We're supposed to have a load of leaders out their on the pitch, but it certainly doesn't look like it at the moment.

Right now I feel a little sorry for Klopp. The players have really let him down over the last month or so.
Me too, one hell of a send off their giving him The players are tired. Some are coming back from injury also. To me it seemed like at one stage Klopp wanted to go for the lot. He played a full strength 1st XI against Sparta Prague at home when we were already 5-1 up from the first leg, knowing we'd face United just 3 days later in the FA Cup, in a game you know in advance could go 120+ minutes. And of course it did. I think that game especally we emptied an already empty tank - it was both physically and emotionally draining - more so because we got nothing from it.
It's easy to sit back and say the players are letting down Klopp but in truth it's partly the other way around. And I think he knows it.
We'd overachieved in comparison to what any of use expected up until recently, in no small part due to the Klopp announcement in late Jan.
The problem with riding a wave of emotion like that is that there will inevitably be a come down, which in our case was obviously triggered by the MU FA Cup loss immediately followed by the squad disbanding for nearly 2 weeks on international duty.
Don't know what to think about the rest of the season at this point as we are still very much in the PL title race. On recent performances you'd think 3rd would be the likely result, but with 6 games left anything could happen. An FA Cup or EL would have been a nice send off for Klopp, but the PL is of course the big one.

Agree, as said previously, some team selections have been weird. And trying to complete on all fronts is detrimental. We know the way we play takes a huge toll on players.
I did wonder whether players are being affected by the fact they know Klopp is going. Would it be different if nothing had been said until later in the season?

We'll never know. Just as possible it gave us a bump during a difficult part of the season and we'd be in a worse position without it?From expectations at the beginning of the season, we have had a good year wherever we finish in the top 3
Would have been nice to win the one Trophy Klopp didn’t get though.
And I cannot for the life of me work out who to blame for tippy tapping around at the back in the second half last night, it was almost like we were time wasting

He gets most things right but that was daft.Mind you had things been different we would be getting knocked out by Coventry on Sunday.
The endeavour is there but the finishing is woeful, not sure why but Salah should be dropped

I think the injury has definitely had an affect on him, he's dropped a further half yard of pace I'd say. I don't think we should expect Salah to sustain yet another 60+ game season; he's been incredible how many games he's played for us consistently and at a high level, for so many years. I mentioned it before but I do think father-time has finally caught up with him. I'm sure with a good rest and pre-season we'd see the same Salah that we saw in the first half of this season but over the full course of a very demanding league + injury, I think it's normal we're now seeing a drop-off from him.I don't think it's a stretch to say that Klopps teams, more than any other I can think of, are a reflection of their manager.
Entirely built around his image, his ethos and his energy.
Unfortunately that energy is missing from the man right now. And the team reflects that.
I hope he finds what he's lost in his sabbatical/retirement.

How do you legislate for so many players going off the boil at the same time? Perhaps the pressure of it being JK's last season has got in their heads, regardless of all their PR talk.
Could he have waited until the end of the season before announcing it? Maybe not. The club were unlikely to be able to spend 7 months in absolute secrecy investigating future replacements around the world, with nobody anywhere saying anything. Those days are gone, I guess.
I suspect he's already done and is counting the days down now - wouldn't really surprise me if he thinks the players are spent, mentally. He's never going to say that in public though.

This iteration of the team isn't on a level with the peak Salah, Mane, Bobby team. Atalanta was a bit of an anomaly, that home game was a 1 in 50 type result but generally we're where we should be, maybe even a bit better. City are underperforming worse than we are.

Given the injury situation I actually think we've overperformed given we've had our best players out for multiple months this season (Ali, TAA, Salah, Robbo, Jota).
Football doesn't give a st about fairytales and it being Klopps last season. If you're off the boil by 10% anybody can beat you.
What we have seen again is the limitations of Klopps approach when we have injuries and when we go deep into 4 competitions. It isn't sustainable and energy levels have inevitably dropped. It makes the sparta 2nd leg all the more strange.

The club and Klopp has such a lovely touch. Shocking what happened to Sean.
