So, how do we feel about the Klopp era?

I for one have enjoyed the ride and rate Klopp as good as any.

In his 10 year era he

Won the premiere leauge
Came runners up to city twice by a single point.
Won the fa cup.
Won the league cup.
won he champions league.
Reached 2 other champions league finals.

I wouldn't call him a lucky manager having to compete in an era of city.

Id settle for that record again over the next 10 years, but maybe with a tad more luck at times.
I honestly have quite mixed views, its been good fun on the whole, we've played some absolutely brilliant football and the exact same teams have served up some utter dross but I'll remember the good stuff thanks smile
Trophy haul has been ok, hopefully nder a new manager we'll continue to have cup runs and compete for top 4, its all I ever really hope for.

I think for any new manager coming in, Jota will be looked at, to see if there's anything in training and physio they can do to minimise his injury time. If not, he may well be on his way in the next 18 months.

In any case, I doubt new bloke will bin half the squad in 1 go this summer, or even most of the attack (or defence).
The new manager won't be allowed to make wholesale changes initially.

I was never a fan of BR, so I've really loved/enjoyed the Klopp era in comparison. I remember getting really excited about Klopp in his very first press conference, and he certainly hasn't disappointed for me.

In saying that, I am a bit flat about how this season has ended though in fairness.

On balance very positive and it was definitely great to win the Premier League after so long.

But I am left with a nagging feeling that we have flattered to deceive too many times and that with the squad we have had we should have ultimately achieved more.

The next manager has quite a rebuild job too if we really want to compete for the big prizes.

The other thing I should have mentioned about Klopp is the stuff behind the scenes - the structure, the way the academy is linked more closely with the senior teams now. As an entity, I think from all I've read, the club (on th efootball side) is far more sorted and well structured than it ever was. Klopp had a big hand in that too.

Agreed, these developments have been huge for the club, hopefully it continues

The first of a million such puns, should we actually get him!

Melissa Reddy on Sky Sports said today Slot very much wants to come to Liverpool, and its just a case of the clubs negotiating his release. Slot has apparently confirmed similar.

Klopp is one of our great managers and lot's of people above have mentioned his qualities. He will be missed despite recent performances and body language but whilst the shock of his departure was great at the time, that has now disapated and replaced with a feeling that it's actually the right time for change, for him and for us. I'll have a go at some of his non-qualities of which he has a few IMO:

1. Stubborn - put too much faith in older players. Wanted to keep Milner and Henderson this season. Fortunately someone at boardroom level overruled him and Milner left. Thankfully Henderson had his head turned too. Continually played Karius and Moreno despite how sh!t they were. Paid the ultimate price for his stubbornness in that CL final. Only then did he finally relent and we never saw Karius again.

2. Slow decision maker - especially early on but definitely seemed to improve but still makes the odd strange decisions. I always found him to be reactive instead of proactive, slow to make decisions when we were playing badly or losing. Six home defeats in a row three years ago, which Klopp seemed to do very little to change - even formation-wise or seemingly coaching on the training ground. He'd wait and wait until it almost too late to make changes, be it tactically or subs. Bournemouth 4-3 away was one that always stuck in my head. He did seem to get much better over time but it seemed to take forever. Some recent team selections have been WTF or bringing on defenders when we need to win the game.

3. Not ruthless enough - Have already spoken about his faith in older players and not moving them on sooner or even sticking with poor players. Some would say that is actially a quality but football is a ruthless business. He could be ruthless as saw with Sakho, he just wasnt ruthless enough for me.

4. Stephen fking Caulker!

Still gave us some of best ever memories like winning our first league title in 30 years - nothing beats that. But also building a squad with a very low net spend that played some of the best football I've ever seen. Should have won more but hey ho, that's Klopp - imperfect at times but also the most human of people.

Am I the only one wishing Mr Slot could have just shut up until the deal is done? Seems quite disrespectful while managing 1 club to say "yes I want to go, it's just a question of the 2 clubs agreeing terms". Imagine if we didn't agree terms and he was left at Feyenoord. A cultural thing maybe, the Dutch are hardly known for holding back when they have something to say.

I actually found it quite refreshing. Asked a direct question and gave a direct, honest answer. Clearly he wants to come, it's been all over the press the day before, the one thing seemingly holding him back completing the deal is Feyenoord negotiating a fee. I think he used the press conference to apply pressure on them to agree the fee - from the outside it looks as though they are holding out to see how much more they can get.

A cocky, arrogant, bald headed Dutchman.

Where have we seen that before?

So they can't be different in their approach and ability, just because they are both bald and Dutch?

I was only jesting, who knows how he will turn out.
Could be amazing or another ETH.
Will have to wait and see.

Slot and Dychy can get together as the low budget Merseyside Mitchell brothers, if they are struggling for fancy dress.

I think with the resources available he's done a remarkable job.

He came along in the Pep Man City era and was left having to deliver ridiculous levels of success to even push them. To have scored 90+ points on multiple occasions and still only have won a single PL title having lost out twice by a single point would be unheard of in any other era. Even Arsenals invincibles only scored 90 points.

Some wonderful memories and so glad that it came along when I could enjoy them all with my son who has turned 20 this year.

This, definitely. Lots of valid points made on here for pluses and negatives but ultimately - this.

Until he wins a trophy over here he'll be worse than ETH lol.
Be interesting to watch how this one pans out, and how long the fans /Club stand by him if its not an immediate upturn?

He turned you guys round and won some major trophies without the same level of cash backing Pep enjoys. Other club fans dislike him intensely, which proves he was doing something right!
