Watched the match yesterday. It was always going to be devastating for one team to lose.

However I did think that the std of play was way below Premiership levels. Even Southampton would have walked it. Some serious investment in players needed.
Of course the standard is way below, why would you expect anything else.... unless you're only used to watching rhe Premier League.....and I can assure you Southampton circa this season would seriously struggle in the Championship, it requires a completely different mindset and way of playing.
It will be tough but I actually think Luton with the right signings will surprise a few people.....every team that gets promoted hears the same negativity, it gets quite boring to hear it .
No one knows what signings a promoted team will make and until they do you can't really predict.....unless it's Norwich and you can bet on certain relegationbiggrin

Firstly, congratulations to Luton Town on a staggering achievement in getting promoted to the EPL - it gives hope to many clubs often considered as 'small'. Best wishes too to Tom Lockyer - watching the game yesterday I feared a Christian Eriksen type issue.

I read that the new stadium, Power Court or something, will cost around £100 million to deliver, probably in 2026.
So my question to Luton fans: will the club take the TV money and use all or most of it to fund the new stadium? Or will the club copy Nottingham Forest and buy a load of - hopefully - Premier League quality players? Seems to me it can't be both, so what's the fans' expectation?

I don't see Forest being the blueprint for survival.
They bought quantity rather than quality and survived by the skin of their teeth

Definitely the former; the board are sensible and only care about future sustainability of the club, they won’t spunk ridiculous money on buying loads of players. We traditionally recruit well on a budget, that won’t change.

We didn’t play anywhere near our potential yesterday; we’ve played some really neat football at times this season, but also play to our strengths of two robust lads (Morris and Adebayo) up front, together with athletic centre halves who are comfortable bringing the ball out from the back & the pinpoint deliveries from Doughty & Clark (who was my Man of the Match yesterday by a mile).

I think we need another quality striker (if Morris gets injured we’ll struggle for goals and miss his wonderful hold/link up play) & possibly a creative centre midfielder.

Power Court is in a good spot within the town center. I would ride pass where the groundwork was taking place quite often. It's great to see that they're finally getting a new stadium, who remembers the Kohler Dome project? getmecoat

Dropped in and out of home games over the years with my brother in law and always had a blast in Kenny Road, we went one boxing day and an old partner of mine couldn't believe her eyes that stadiums like it still existed. hehe

100% this. We're under no illusions. This is a step in the process, not the end game. The board see the bigger picture and the fans are all bought in to the journey. That's not to say we won't be trying to take a few scalps next season, and it's not beyond reasonable to suggest we might just survive, though like I said, that's not the primary focus in the short term.

What a day. The nerves and tension was unbelievable throughout, completely lost myself when the penalty was missed, probably going to need another day or two for it to sink in.

I've full confidence in the board striking the right balance on recruitment, the money coming in takes a huge amount of risk out of building Power Court and strengthening the infrastructure to keep pushing on. Next season is a free hit.

Apparently there's some doubt about them meeting the standards that have been laid down, in time. May have to open with several away games, or agree a ground share after all. There was a report on London local news on Friday, discussing issues if they went up (although why Luton is on London news I don't know)

Some big issue with fitting electronic turnstiles in the space available for them. Having to modify them because they're too tall/wide. There are other issues as well.
Yet you missed the news where the chairman said they would build a new stand in 12 weeks to comply with the regulations
So Luton are away first game of the season, but their first home game v Burnley has been postponed. They asked Burnley to switch it to Turf Moor and Burnley quite rightly told them fk off.

So Burnley's fixture schedule has been messed because Luton's ground isn't fit for purpose.

Give it a rest
It's 1 game.....other clubs......bigger clubs, have had home games postponed or switched because their stadium developments weren't ready in time.

Have a day off. The work on the ground is ahead of schedule. Our chairman however is being pragmatic and not wanting to commit to something that could be subject to unforeseen delays/issues. No doubt those Who Are Always Right on the internet would criticise for instead postponing it at the last minute…

From what I understand, the decision to postpone rather than switch is as much to do with Burnley’s local police force as the club, as Blackburn are at home on the same day.

Quite amusing how some people on social media are utterly stting themselves with rage over something that has little to no impact on them! biggrin

Spurs, Liverpool and West Ham have all had their first home games rearranged in recent memory so it’s hardly a big deal.

Enjoying the outrage here from a fan of a club who managed once to pull a crowd of 8,293 to a Premier League match (1994 v Coventry), in this dump/death trap:

Yes, it was a dump, hence a more or less total rebuild to turn it into a ground fit for the PL. We did a bit more than fit new turnstiles.

But carried on playing there whilst it was a dump, and nobody complained.

Why not cut another up and coming club a bit of slack?

The East stand, which was quite new, probably had a bigger capacity. Plus it was 30 years ago, I doubt it would be allowed today.

Then I guess your mean spiritedness is fully justified and they must be punished for daring to rise to the top of English football at such an impressive and joyful speed, the utter swines.
