If you didn't write things like 'He won the whole world cup' we wouldn't have to debate how good or otherwise he was or why 15 players refused to play for him and the whole team won't play while his mate's around. Or why the whole coaching staff other than him resigned.
Maybe the players will come out with a statement saying what a great coach he is.
He did win the whole thing - as a manager, managing a depleted squad. You've yet to explain why he should have resigned; to support a revolution at his own detriment? Unless he was in some way misogynistic or abusive, and that hasn't come out, then the players need to accept his management style while it gleans results (like the World Cup). That, or detail what he actually did wrong.Maybe the players will come out with a statement saying what a great coach he is.
To be honest, he's best off out of it - it all seems very cut-throat currently.

he still won the whole thing.
I suppose that's one way of looking at it.There was very clearly a toxic atmosphere in that camp which makes it all the more amazing that they managed to win the thing. It's no real surprise that he has gone with his chief protector sidelined.
It would look pretty bad if the recently crowned World Cup winners had to forefit their first match after winning as only the manager turned up for the match.......

I would imagine, with less than 2 weeks to go before Spain's first match in the Nations League, and with no players and no coaching or physio staff, and only a manager, they've had no choice in the matter.

This is true and something I'd not considered. I read that nearly sixty players refused to play for him - could have been embarrassing. I wonder what this is all about? It would look pretty bad if the recently crowned World Cup winners had to forefit their first match after winning as only the manager turned up for the match.......

You don't follow football do you?
Not the way you do.His federation have fired him.
Some bloke on the internet thinks he's great.
I can't see any way this ends up being resolved.

It's an absolute st show - the players wanted him out, the Spanish FA removed those players from the squad and he still won the whole thing. He should be getting a medal not a sacking.
I'm not sure I have an opinion on whether or not the sacking was justified or not, but for me (and I think this applies to Rubiales as well), isn't the actual situation that it makes no financial sense to resign.i.e. the contract that they have signed presumably has clauses in it that cover getting sacked - i.e. severance payments etc, and it is presumably in their best interests to hold on and wait to be pushed rather than to jump.
In which case, their hands are somewhat tied. Stay quiet and wait to be sacked.

Exactly that. I'd be surprised if they haven'tr paid up his contract, given the nice things they said about him.i.e. the contract that they have signed presumably has clauses in it that cover getting sacked - i.e. severance payments etc, and it is presumably in their best interests to hold on and wait to be pushed rather than to jump.

The players want rid - well, unless there is good reason, this isn't how life works. His federation want rid.

His federation want rid - which is their right; but is this about justified complaints, in which case he could have been sacked last year; or is this about the issue of not being able to complete the upcoming fixture that aeropilot brought up?
Some bloke on the internet thinks he's great - I don't have the first clue who he is, I can just see his record.

It literally is.If the players wanted him there he'd still be in charge. No?
You're surely not going to argue that one?

But they wanted rid last year so why didn't it happen then? The players don't make the call unless you get sixty players going on strike to force the issue. I'll say it again, it's a st show, tinpot to use a men's football description.
I underestimated your will to win. Maybe because Rubiales?
Why do clubs change managers?
Ever heard the expression 'He's lost the dressing room'?

I'll give up here, you obviously can't see any issue here and unlike aeropilot won't give any good reason for him to be sacked.

I didn't follow the Women's world cup at all really, but this is all really sad that it's overshadowed their greatest ever achievement. Even if you agree/disagree or whatever, their whole achievement is now dwarfed by this "scandal". https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/sep/06/jenn...

I kind of agree, but at the same time- imagine if Jesse Owens could have kicked up this much of a stink on his return to the USA and was expected to live a segregated life even at his own parade. Byker28i said:

Is Spanish law ahead of the curve? ...i ask because afaiaa in the UK a non consented kiss isn't automatically classed as sexual or sexual harassment/ abuse, as it has to be deemed to have sexual intent- i seem to remember an incident involving Gascoigne that argued this & him subsequently being clearedhttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/sep/06/jenn...
