Garner / Williams most recently. The Keane brothers (twins?) whilst the maths is correct that few actually make it onto the big or biggest stage, we have a tendency to overhype the things. TakenWe seem to expect 8 or 9 of every year not just to be half decent but world beaters. Then some on here get swept up in that giddiness.
Plenty of them go out on loan never to be seen again or sold for pennies, but all were hyped up massively on here and elsewhere. However, we have missed out on some real diamonds too.
Exactly the point ,city were sweeping up all the best talent but that has changed the last few years .Our academies were not very good but things have now changed .Plenty of them go out on loan never to be seen again or sold for pennies, but all were hyped up massively on here and elsewhere. Which is great and definitely a positive move. We need to be realistic in our expectations of output though. Real Madrid fan not impressed by City fans.

One of my favourite players ever and he is pure class. An absolute disgrace how he was treated in the end, shameful.
It's disgusting, really. The fact the owners, the executives were allowing and supporting the club to behave in this way to anyone is bad, doing it to an absolute legend like Bastian is just so sad. Literally had zero cares for the playing staff, no wonder the players in return showed that back (sometimes). https://youtu.be/1ACloJetIE0?si=0WavIGhQbQc4nXdc

When people wonder why we complain so much about the Glazers, why change is so important - after all it's not them kicking the ball, picking the players, right? They've ponied up the cash, must be good? This st is why. It's utterly utterly toxic to the club and morale. They should all be put in stocks at the stadium on the next match day. Glazers, Woodward, the lot of them.

Our next 2 league games are home to Burnley and Sheff Utd.
Any takers for 6 points?
Think we'll drop points, plenty perhaps.
i feel like we're playing like Brazil! Lots of attack but no defence. We just hope that the opposition is so busy defending they forget to attack or we simply score more than we concede. THF it works for the Brazilians Any takers for 6 points?

Who is unrealistic ? The big fusses in recent years have been over Mainoo ,Garnacho , greenwood and ravel Morrison .People saying so and so is a promising talent is a very long way from expecting them to make it .

Plenty on here get swept up. People saying so and so is a promising talent is a very long way from expecting them to make it .
Henderson, Gomes, Elanga, Zidane Iqbal, Hannibal Mejbri all going to be world beaters, all now gone. Probably loads more if we go through each year.

Not long ago people were on here trying to argue that Casemiro was a good signing Henderson, Gomes, Elanga, Zidane Iqbal, Hannibal Mejbri all going to be world beaters, all now gone. Probably loads more if we go through each year.
On the kids coming through though, I guess it's because some stand out so much at youth level that it just seems like they SHOULD carry that through but the reality is wildly different.
I never saw the fuss with Iqbal, whilst Gomes was always far too slight for the PL. Mejbri wasn't great on loan at Birmingham which was a warning sign.
I feel like Amad has been hyped up but I've never quite seen a Man Utd level player there, time will tell on that I suppose.
The most hyped we've had come through lately are Morrison and Greenwood, and on both fronts the hype was probably right ability wise but making it is about more than just ability.
People seem to think Amass is going to go from under 18's to first XI (and skip the under 21's) - I've never seen him play so can't comment. But a generational talent left back would be a fine thing given the state of our current ones.
Personally I thought Tuanzebe was going to be class, but injuries ruined him.
Shea Lacey is the next off the conveyor belt...............

I think with alot of the youth players its really pot luck if they make it. There is so many factors at play if they succeed firstly at United and then have good careers away from the club. From the snippets you hear on podcasts or articles on the youth teams the end goal is to make they good pro's and that they have the skill set to have a good career in football. Apparently the U18's went along to the Liverpool Hillsbourgh remembrance and paid their respects which I thought was a nice touch.
As fans we want them to do well as players, and perhaps some get hyped up more than they deserve. I do think that at United there is a good route through to the first team and the club activly promotes players into the 1st team.
