This made me smile. Metgod rejoins as Director. 1984, back when Forest used to sign Real Madrid players !

read that both Burnley and 'Boro are after signing Assombalonga for £10m
Thats too cheap IMO and if they sell him now he's fit again, we can wave goodbye to any chance of pushing up the table next season
I agree as we tend to replace our "better" players with "journey men" & this will not win you titles.Thats too cheap IMO and if they sell him now he's fit again, we can wave goodbye to any chance of pushing up the table next season
Hopefully the new owner will recognize this & just put the most ridiculous price tag on any player we want to keep rather than just letting them go for peanuts. Assombalonga I would literally put a 30 million price tag on him & not a penny less. If somebody is willing to pay that, so be it.

Cue social media meltdown tonight!
I'm sorry to see Britt go, but there is more to a club than one striker. And who knows, the money could go in to someone of a similar standard.
I'll bet there are some disgruntled fans with 2017/18 shirts with his name on the back!
I get that Britt wanted to go & that was probably the main reason why Forest let him go. 60k per week, wouldn't you?I'm sorry to see Britt go, but there is more to a club than one striker. And who knows, the money could go in to someone of a similar standard.

My problem is, who do we replace him with? Yes there are lots of good 20 goal per season strikers but are they for sale? Do they want to come to Forest for potentially a wage cut? Probably not so the only answer is to buy somebody from a lower league & hope that they bang in some goals, which isn't likely to happen I am afraid. That then leaves us with our current strikers - are they going to all of a sudden grow a pair & bang goals in? in what is probably the toughest Championship league that we are likely to be in....... I fear that our season could already be over before it's begun! Yes, I really do feel that strongly about keeping hold of your better players.
Not sure I can cope with watching another 22 home games like last nights! If that had been Boro in a fortnight then Britt would have had the most memorable return ever, bagging himself a double hat-trick!
I get the style of play that Warburton is having us adopt....I'm just not sure we have the right players for it.
A win is a win, especially early on where it's important to put points on the board. I cant help but wonder how long we'll stick with this tika-taka once things get tough, as they always do in the Championship.

happy about tonight's result, I know Newcastle have a few issues. But Beating a Prem side away and in ET, is a great result.
Tyler looks a really good player.
Think it was a good call to put a stronger side out tonight, will give the guys a real boost to have won against a Prem side.

Really proud of the team again last night...
Chelsea in the next round could be "interesting"
Not "interesting" enough, unfortunately.Chelsea in the next round could be "interesting"
I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the match, albeit in the 'wrong' end!
Forest started off well enough, with some crisp passing in midfield, looking fairly confident and having a decent share of possession, albeit without being too threatening going forward. However poor defending gifted Chelsea 2 of their 3 goals in the first half. A
Forest free kick hit the cross bar with the keeper well beaten and 3-1 wouldn't have flattered Forest.
In the second half, Chelsea were much more dominant - controlling the ball and seeming as if they could turn on the style at any point they felt like. They seemed to be able to get in behind Forest with ease (particularly on our tight) and had plenty of further chances. On the other hand, when Forest had the ball, they didn't seem to have the pace to really trouble the Forest defence although they did create a couple of half chances.
The Forest goal in injury time was a nice break from our own penalty area and was certainly deserved.
Overall, the gulf in class was apparent, but with a bit more pace up front (and some better defending) I would have though we could do ok in the Championship this year!

Quiet in here of late, though I suspect that's because we have been so massively inconsistent.
Still, such a crazy division, we are 1 point of the play offs, but in like 12th place or something. A run of three or four wins would put us near the top I should think.
Great to get three away from home. Encouraging signs.
