My concerns are more about the fact that for 3-4 years we have had a stable team and added a couple of decent players each year to supplement it. The players who have left have been sold rather than been poached. It's different this year as we will lose a number of players and the team will need re-building with a new manager, new style
I can't help but think that if Cortese had stayed that Poch and the others would as well and we would be looking at signings rather than selling.

Indeed, I was having nose over there yesterday and it surprised me.

Some 'what ifs': Steve Clark; Michael Laudrup?

Apparently an out of work ex Basel manager is the favourite?

What is going on behind the scenes?

Pochettino was an out of work ex Espanyol manager. Yakin won back-to-back Swiss titles in 2013 and 2014 and won home and away against Chelsea in the Champions League. Also he does not speak any English, so he sounds perfect.

Don't be surprised. They think they're a bigger club than they really are. Some say they are as big as Sunderland and Villa but with Villa's history that's debatable.

Strange bunch.

MoPo could speak pretty good English by all accounts!

There are some huge assumptions here.
The board has said today we have had no bids for any players.
We do not need to sell. If any player does leave it will be because he does not want to play for us.
If the players are angry at Poch leaving they should speak to him.
The club did not sack him. They offered him a new contract which he had no intention of signing.
For the 1st time in a long time we have been used as a stepping stone. Something we may have to get used to if we continue to punch above our weight.
I for one would have no problem with McClaren,Yakin or Garcia.
We will have to have some faith with our new board. Strap yourself in, it's going to be a hell of a ride.

Fair comments and I really hope that our current players show that last season was not a flash in the pan. I just hope that we can build on last season and keep developing players

^^^^^ Fantastic news for Rickie, his home town club (Liverpool), Bristol Rovers and Rochdale.

Not so good for Southampton but as a Gashead I'm delighted.

Still nothing confirmed.

The talk now is that Saints have declined the initial bid .

The plot thickens

Call me an optimist but....

I am wondering if this money helps pay for a new and good manager (and his hangers on) which would reassure the rest of the players, keeping them at the club.

Ricky has been a great player for us and if he wants to cash in near the end of his career then all the best to him......but if this one (?) sale keeps the wolfs from the door then lets do it and move on (and upwards hopefully smile )

Much prefer him to stay as he still has a lot to offer but I guess it could be his only chance to play for the team he supports.

Champions League football too.

Ricky has a proper "Roy of the Rovers" story and I can't say I blame him for trying to make the most of the current situation smile
