Not sure how much I agree with the FFP angle - Saints aren't even in Europe and the chances of them qualifying next season don't seem any greater had they kept the players - they still finished 8 & 13 points behind United & Spurs, both of whom spectacularly hit the self-destruct button last season.
I think the issue is more that Katharina Liebherr inherited the club. She probably doesn't have the passion of her father and is not prepared to pump in millions of pounds as was done in the previous seasons. Balance the books, live within the financial means of the club and hope to flip it onto to someone else.

RK has apparently said that any player not happy here will be allowed to leave.
A nice sentiment but a dangerous game to play.
It seems to me that too many of our players are being lured by big money and ruthless agents.
Lets face it only Lovren will be a 1st team regular. All the rest will be bit part players , happy to earn mega bucks while sat on the bench or in Chambers case only playing in the league cup !
Freddie Kruger may have said Morgan and J Rod will not be sold but if RK does not want unhappy players then we already know the outcome.
We need a couple of quality players in to try and calm things down a bit. I am sure the club is working hard but just making hard work of it.

I imagine Shaw and Lallana will both start A nice sentiment but a dangerous game to play.

Hope he gets a big fine. He has a contract and is trying to force a move. Honour the contract unless you and the club agree that it's right for everyone..... not throw a hissy fit when you are paid thousands per week.m3sye said:

Shaw has been told to train on his own as he is deemed not fit enough.Hardly a player who is likely to start for a Manure side !!
Adam Banana is out for 6 weeks and IMHO will struggle with the pace of football Liverpool play. The expectation of the bigger clubs is huge. Easy to be a hero on the smaller stage.

Question for Saints fans who watched the team week in week out and not just the MOTD highlights like most of us...who would you say were your best 2 players for the whole season?
For me it was Lallana and Morgan.Morgan has been consistent for a few seasons now but does lack that killer ball and does not score enough goals from midfield.
Lallana had a poor 1st season in the prem and for me was lucky to keep his place and captains armband. His improvement in form was incredible but can he produce it on the big stage ? Only time will tell !

Shaw will be in the UTD team - they have just paid 30m for him and sold Evra (his fitness will be addressed)Hardly a player who is likely to start for a Manure side !!

Lallana is out at the moment but when fit will no doubt eventually get in the team

Why are some of the top clubs buying so heavily into 8th place?
I hinted that this was the case on the Liverpool thread and they didn't like it. Mind you, I was all ranty and annoyed as I'd just read the Chambers news, so I wasn't making much sense either Although it is a stupid comment IMHO. Most EPL teams are made up a couple of stand out players, a couple of duds, and the rest good quality - doesn't apply possibly to bottom 3 and City perhaps Chelsea. Also outside of the top 4/5 there is a greater tendency to play youth as the clubs don't have the funds to buy stars/foreigners in for every position.
Therefore most sides have 1 or 2 very good players that could get in to most EPL teams, and some have some excellent youth players that look the next big thing. The biggger teams buying some of either doesn't weaken them, it unfortunately weakens the selling lcubs massively though (which in turn further helps the bigger teams stay up there)
