Long's pretty good, to be fair. His work rate is spot-on, and he's more a player of Davis' ilk - he always gives 8/10. Always fighting for the ball, always looking to make the best pass. Ok, for a forward you'd probably want more goals, but if we play him and don't depend on him for goals, I think he's a class act.

That's two games against the bigger teams, where we've played well and lost. We're not the only team doing it at the moment, though - it's a right funny old league this season. Burnley's a test, as it's not the easiest place to go, but hopefully we'll go there and get a good result and kick-start the season from there. We've got Burnley, Everton and Palace next, games which, going by the form of the season up until a couple of weeks back we should be ok with. We've got more quality than Burnley, and I'd say right now we're in position to give Everton a tough time, too. Palace away will probably be the trickiest one, as they'll be up for a scrap. Plus it's Boxing Day!

Hard not to get a bit deflated at the moment, but best to keep a reality check - go back to the start of the season and ask yourself would you be happy with 5th place (not to mention still statistically the tightest defence in the PL) at the beginning of December!

Mane was useless. No idea why tadic went off. Fonte is much more solid as number 2 centre back.

Apart from that thought they did themselves proud.

They did - and on another night might have scored three maybe - Utd were hopeless but somehow won.

Another loss, and again it seems unlucky (a missed penalty)......

Seems like the luck Southampton had in the first part of the season has turned 100%.

Things could've been quite different with a draw against Arsenal, a win vs. Manu and a draw against Burnley; that's 5 points.

My thoughts too. Runs around a lot but not much else. As for Tadic - player of his class shouldn't have a penalty saved. Ok, the 'keeper went the right way but it's an opportunity to strike an unsaveable shot.

A criminal, cowardly, low-life act is more likely

I hope they can re-group for the Everton game but I fear the worst. It's a temporary blip I keep telling myself

Poor show from Koeman at the end, no matter what the behaviour from the other lot.

Smacks of being a bad loser.

Will see if it is a temporary blip over the next 4 games.
Everton.
Palace.
Chelsea.
Arsenal.

No easy fixture list that. Them teams are a different class from the lower teams that you lot have played plus Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal won't have European football to distract them until February.

Whilst Southampton free fall can Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton come in to form?

Don't win any of them and you could see yourselves 11th.

Have not posted in a while as did not really know what to say.

Lost to Man City. Outplayed on the day by a better side.

Lost to Arsenal. Could of and should of come away with a point. With better tactical nous and mental savvy we should of held on . Even with 10 men.

Lost to Man Utd. The worst Utd side I have seen in over 25 years. Created enough chances to put the game to bed before half time . These opportunities don't come around too often. You have to take them.

Lost to Burnley. A poor performance against a poor side. A championship side who will be back there next season.

Lost to Sheff Utd. I was at the game last night and it was an embarrassment . Outplayed, outfought and outthought by an average league 1 side. Our team was full of internationals yet did not have a clue. Time and again this club lets the fans down by not performing in important away games.

I said to my mates before the game don't be surprised if we don't win again until February ! I think now that is a distinct possibility .

God knows what team he will play on Saturday. We have nearly all our midfield even suspended or injured.

These are not good days to be a Saints fan.

Although we won last night I would swap the result in an instance for your place in the Prem smile

Crikey you are 5th in arguably the best league in the world - the best of luck for the rest of the season..

Yes, Sheff U are an average 1st Div side but the team is a good Championship one - Clough is building for the future wink - its no co-incidence that we regularly beat excellent opposition from the upper leagues but struggle in the hoofball 1st div....

For Saturday vs. Everton:

No Tadic
No Spiderman
No Wanyama
Davis doubtful
Pelle doubtful

I'm tempted to take my kit with me, I might be needed frown

Bad move, If you really are awful you could well end up playing for Liverpool.

Good result given our depleted side.

I heard via FB that the ref wasn't having a great day.
