Was at Sunderland. Shocking display. We are doing our upmost to throw this away.
On the league qualification to Europe, we qualified in 80-81,81-82,83-84 and 84-85.
Did not play in the last one as the Scousers got us thrown out of Europe !

Everyday's a school day! I'm ashamed of my knowledge of Saints history before 1990 though. I only got into football around that time when I was about 7 or so, and don't read many books. Maybe I should!

Our early 80's side really were the dogs.
The whole team was full of talent. A real joy to watch.

We did seem to attract some big names. Where did the money come from? I know it wasn't the same back then what with multi-million transfer fees etc, but relatively speaking there must have been some investment?

I only watched the 2nd half of the Sunderland game but it looked pretty poor. Maybe JW-P's sending off wasn't warranted. In any case, to concede two penalties and prior to that none conceded all season leaves a bitter taste.

The last-gasp attempt to equalise was also galling. Saints really need a/another decent striker or at least another source of goals from somewhere. And Spurs lost.

Leicester away next - they seem to be doing better of late
Villa at home - Sherwood has given them a boost
Citeh away - nothing need be said.

Stay positive! COYR!

Leicester - nil points. Sounds like Saints will be lucky to score a point at home Villa at this rate. Swansea only 4 points behind with a game in hand, though playing Arsenal tonight. *sigh*

All my fault I am afraid lads. When we were flying high and looked like the best season of my life time I took a punt and bought at auction a fully signed shirt to include all the management team. Having parted with a ridiculous amount of wonga for said item we haven't performed since...

You just knew they were going to win too! Well, if we end up losing a Euro place, I'm happy to do it to Swansea. Firstly, they're flogging away having sold their goal machine, yet are still snapping at our heels. They clearly want it more at the moment.
Secondly, they won't be as tough in the league next season if they're knackered from all the Europa games they'll play.

Yep, Mr. Positive-thinking here hehe

Let's hope he can play as well as before, and if so then good news.

Great move by his agent.
Lots of players are never the same after this injury, so its a win win for him.If he never regains form? Nice new contract to sit on. If he comes back fitter, stronger and better? His Agent will farm him out in 12 months time anyway. Good luck to the lad,he will never have to work again either way. rolleyes
