Woy's officially lost it:

So, let's get this straight.....Clyne is wanted by Liverpool and Man Utd, apparently. Man Utd don't play Jones at RB, and want to ADD Clyne to bolster their squad. Liverpool have Jordan Henderson, who's a midfielder. They don't play him at right back. They want Clyne because they [strikethrough]only know how to buy players from us[/strikethrough] want to bolster their squad.
On this basis, Clyne is a decent RB and two of the bigger teams (well, one who's big now and one whose fans insist they're still big) want his services because the current options they have aren't deemed strong enough. Those current options include PJ and JH (though even Brendan Rogers isn't daft enough to play JH at RB, surely?)
So what does Woy do? Leave the best English RB on the bench (along with the best English LB, incidentally) in favour of players who play for the 'big teams'. Everyone moans that England players these days have no spirit or passion to play for their country, and here's a player who's been overlooked because he plays for us and he's actually upset about it. He hasn't run off to the press, he's just struggled to suppress his disappointment after his 3mins on the pitch, which is understandable as even to someone who's tactically inept (such as myself) it's obvious he should have started.

I agree. Seems bloody daft to me citing poor club performance.Today's news: Saints have a young Spanish striker now: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20160616-ju...
We have signed a right-back from Portugal: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33187225

The Scousers' bid for Clyne seems very low but I don't know how much truth there is behind it. Surely he's worth £15m+? Perhaps Soares is the replacement 'just in case'?
I'm hoping Clyne stays and they fight for a place. Soares is perfect to backup Clyne with all the extra fixtures we'll be having.I'd say Toby's worth £18m all day long, to be fair. Stepped up to the mark in the PL in next to no time (as did a number of our other signings this season) and unlike Lovren, it's obvious he can cut it whoever's playing in front of him, whereas with Lovren he (we now know) looked amazing because he had two of the best CDM's in the league playing ahead of him.
Heard about a £10m bid being prepared for Austin, but can't help but think we've got enough in attack these days, although in fairness of all our attacking options only one of them is an out and out striker, other than Gallagher.

I read that we are not in for Austin because Koeman thinks we have enough in attack. I agree with you though that we have a lot of no 10 type players but not a lot of strikers.130R said:

I'd rather see another PL defender and a proven back-up goalie. Kelvin's just not up to task, legend or no legend. Gazzaniga? Well if Ronald sees something in him, fair play - he knows more than me, because to me, Gazza is well-below average for PL. Would like to see Heaton join from Burnley. Rated him quite highly last season. Would have been nice to get Trippier too, but Spurs obviously nabbed him. See what Soares can do. Him and Juanmi could be two potential bargains.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
