Just back from a great weekend in Sunderland.
3rd visit and 1st victory for me.
We were so much better than them. A better final ball would have seen a far bigger winning margin.
Sunderland are really in trouble. They really look like a relegation team.
Would be a shame as it is a great weekend away.

Not seen any of the loss against Stoke. Was it grim? No Pelle for the Citeh game now I understand.
You had plenty of the ball but created little. You should have had a penalty.Stoke played on the counter attack mostly and made numerous chances that we managed to miss rather badly.1-4 wouldn't have been an unfair result
Yoshi's a good squad player. As a CB, to me, he qualifies as a PL standard back-up (though behind Caulker in the pecking order). He's no RB though. Can't understand why Martina isn't getting a look-in? Why did we buy him in when we're playing our 4th choice CB in the fullback position instead? I've seen Martina a couple of times, and aside for some positioning issues (of which Yoshida is guilty of the same) he looks pretty trick on the ball. And is Cedric even injured?
As for the result, 3-1 is a bitter bill to swallow for us these days, but let's look at it in context: We're away to the best squad in the PL, and they had a point to prove after getting stuffed by an average one (who think they're big). Our standard so far this season has been upper mid-table. It was a shame not to grab a point, especially when we pulled it back to 2-1, but that's life.
Interesting stat on Shane Long - he's currently averaging a goal every 99mins, across the park, and a lot of that has been from the bench. Be good if he could keep that up, as he deserves to score more what with all the effort he piles in.

Extremely shocked last night.
Apart from Fonte this was our 1st eleven. To see us ripped apart like that was distressing !
All over the pitch , and off , we were 2nd best and completely outclassed.
It was not even their 1st eleven !!
A game at home to Villa on Saturday should be a banker 3 points but not so sure now.

It's as quiet here as it is in St Marys!!
What's going on then fellow Saints fans?? There's no passion in the team. Players who were once good are now playing terribly.
If this carries on which unfortunately I can't see any other way at the moment, then we could be in for a relegation battle.
At least when we used to have relegation battles every season we had a bit of something about us with players who dug in and actually wanted it, but I'm not seeing this anymore...

1 point in 5 is definitely relegation form, but there's enough talent in that team to turn it around. Biggest difference is losing Morgan IMO. No point whining about it and dwelling on the past, but our replacements for the players we've lost over the years haven't been of a high enough standard, with the exception of possibly Bertrand and Pelle. When Pelle's playing well he's better than SRL was, but he's more inconsistent. At least Lambert used to give everything to the cause. Tadic can also change a game, but again he's not consistent compared with the likes of Lallana. What's going on then fellow Saints fans?? There's no passion in the team. I don't think we'll get relegated, but I do think we'll finish bottom half, possibly 12th. We need a striker in January, as with J Rod out, Pelle again has no competition at the same time of year as the last time he dipped in form. Shane Long doesn't have enough goals in him, and is best as an impact sub.
I'm not totally sure what the problem is recently. We're not playing well, and aside from Chelsea and Vitesse (who were ste anyway) we haven't played well all season really. I watched the Everton game at home (the one BT Sport game we've had on) and we were shocking in that. I remember being on a downer about it and wondering how we'd kick on from there. We've had some ok results, sure, and being in the top half is still good for us as a club, but we're not playing well. It's a bit worrying, but it just feels like it used to in the 90's really, only difference is we don't have MLG to come and save the day
