Completely agree. As well as Schneiderlein, I think we are massively missing Alderweireld (sp?) and Forster. Like you say we haven't replaced them with enough quality.
The players that do have quality just aren't doing it and it's very frustrating! If I see Pelle do one more 'air kick'.....!!
But let's see what happens in Jan...I wouldn't be surprised if we lose Mane and maybe Wanyama, but we really need to sign a couple of quality players.
I say bring back Le Tissier! Haha.

I don't think anyone would want Big Vic at the moment, he seems to have forgotten how to pass to players wearing the same shirt he is. Mane's head has dropped, but we all know his quality. I agree he'll be gone in the summer, and we need to think ahead.
Agree about Toby, world class centre back IMO. It was great to have him here for a season! VVD has shown glimmers of similar qualities though, but he makes mistakes Toby would never have made (I could have made a stronger tackle on Kane on Saturday!)
The one bit worrying me is that there doesn't seem to be much blooding in of youngsters at the moment. For a club that prides on its youth academies, we've not really given any of them a chance this season. Matt Targett was only filling in for Bertrand while he was injured (and I totally support starting him over Targett on the whole) but when did we last see Harry Reed come on? Why not give Seager a crack? Just seems a bit odd, but then we don't know what goes on in training behind closed doors. JWP is the only youngster who plays a lot, and sometimes (read, most of the time) short backwards or sideways side-foot passes from midfield are not what you need. The fact he brought him on the other day when we needed to bring on a player who can change a game would have been laughable, if it wasn't so totally moral destroying! He's got a great attitude, good head on his shoulders, gives his all for the cause but ultimately doesn't really do anything. We really need him to step up.

I am beginning to think the VVD is a mistake. As for strong tackle, what *exactly* was that waving of his foot at the ball all about? I know it would be a free kick if he went through the player but chase him, send him wide, make him shoot from an angle!!!Also we need to remember that we are basically playing third choice keeper at the moment.
Just my tuppence worth

Gazza's third choice, but he's only played in the last two games. There's not a huge amount he could have done against Spurs, and he played well against Palace. I don't think having FF or Stek in there would have changed anything, in fact I think with Stek we'd have conceded more than one goal against Palace. Also we need to remember that we are basically playing third choice keeper at the moment.

I hope VVD shows us what all the fuss was about. Great player if you like to look up his skills on Youtube though!

If you have seen the U21 & U18 results this year you would know why no youngsters are playing for the 1st team.Agree about Toby, world class centre back IMO. The production line has dried up. Even those who have gone out on loan are not playing !
Academy players should be a bonus to a Premier league club not a necessity.

The results aren't the be all and end all of academy football. The U21's have been playing with a number of U18 and even 16 yr olds against teams such as Norwich with 4 senior players. They have won 4, lost 4 and drawn twice and beaten both Spurs and Chelsea with narrow loses against Man City (fielding 5 foreigners) and Sunderland. The production line has dried up. The U18's admittedly seem weaker and have had a poor season.
There are 2/3 U21's that could do a job for the first team if Koeman would give them a chance.
How on earth your club are looking over your shoulders at the bottom of the table (though there is no chance you'll be anywhere near a relegation battle in reality) when you can perform like that is crazy. As an Arsenal fan, I put that beating up there with the humiliations of recent seasons at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Anfield.
Absolute pasting, though you were helped by Arsenal's worst performance of the season (so far).
