Sometimes i wonder if certain players up their game when they are on live TV & especially being so close to the new window too.

Maybe it's just me that thinks this & i hope for Southampton's sake it is.

I can see Mane going oop north soon.

Best performance for a while - a superb effort by all, right across the pitch. Much better tracking back, harrying, passing, movement & chance creation than in recent games. Very pleasing.

Didn't really expect too much from the game beforehand, don't think many of us did. Hopefully a kickstart and an end to our lacklustre efforts of late.

Was good to see Long & Mane getting a start together. Their pace caused the Arsenal defence problems from the outset - not least of all Mertesacker who was caught flat footed and left for dead on several occasions.

Have to laugh at Wenger's interview where he reckoned that all of the goals were 'open to discussion'.

Still, the grouch certainly gave himself some workout last night - don't recall seeing an opposition manager stomping around their technical area or frantically waving their arms around to that extent before.

Its one of those seasons for a lot of clubs. You want to read some of the proper Everton forums, meltdown biggrin If ever there was a season to challenger for a top 6/CL place this is it, and a lot of clubs are blowing it.

I'm going to say it....Mane and Wanyama need to go. If they don't I will be very surprised. They clearly don't want to be at the club and it seems they are negatively affecting the other players. And creating a raging Ronald!

They might be good players (some of the time) but we could get decent money for them and get some players in who actually want to play.

Why is it with Southampton that players get to a stage where they think they are too big for the club? You don't seem to get that at other smaller clubs with their good players? Certainly not at the moment anyway.

Genuinely concerned with how our season is going to pan out...

If Man U want to pay £62m for Mané then I'd take their hand off. Crazy money. He's good but not that good!

Reality bites in the end I suppose. Mid-table team finishes (I imagine) in mid-table shocker. Not having a fit 20+ goal-a-season striker doesn't help much.

If Mané and Wanyama go then can Ron find some decent replacements?

That is my worry. If they go and no decent replacement comes in, that money is going to look like pittance if the club get relegated.

That's been the figure thrown around in the papers for the last few days.

Ridiculous amount for an average player. Happy to cash in at that.

Unusually good article on the current Vic/Mane situation:

Excellent article. Nail on head.

I still think for our sake they need to go.....unless there is a drastic turnaround in attitudes.

Looks like a do or die situation tonight and Saturday then.

I'm praying for a result; couldn't care less how they play, they need to scrap for a result!

Loads of negativity in the media at the moment, doesn't seem to be any ambition to sign anybody, talk of one of our promising youngsters, Hesketh going to Man U (ffs! We should be giving some of these players a chance in our first team!), and a general sense of impending doom. Will be such a shame to let this go after the last few years.

At least Forster is back, might give us a bit of solidarity at the back. I would say the same for Pelle, but I fear his return could be very underwhelming. I hope he proves me arong!

Come on Saints!

Three points at last! Should've been a demolition job on a woeful Watford but it's the result that matters.

Romeu looked like he put in a good stint and Long was very good. Mane couldn't hit a barn door on the night but there you go.

Good to see Forster back with a clean sheet even though he had next to nothing to do.

I hear Targett went from crap full back to overlapping Bale-esque wing back?!

Targett looked very good last night, first half especially (great cross for Long's goal) - I wonder whether having Bertrand playing behind took some pressure off him.

Romeu MOTM for me - his best game for us so far and instrumental in us playing a faster, more up-tempo game. On that performance, I'd be disappointed if Wanyama gets back in the starting XI ahead of him this Saturday.

Davis ran Romeu a close second for man of the match. Absolutely tireless performance (again) and unlucky to see his goal disallowed.

On any other day, Mane would have bagged 4 or 5 goals. Just as well Watford were as poor as they were otherwise we may have been regretting those missed chances.

And great to see Forster back between the sticks. Whilst he had virtually nothing to do all night, it was as though his presence had already spread through the defence who looked as calm and composed as I've seen them all season.

Indeed. Hopefully his return will kickstart an improvement in form.

Excellent result, let's hope we can take it forward!

What was the crowd/atmosphere like in the stadium out of interest?
