Long and Davis for me were performances of the game.
Did anyone else sense the engine sort of switched off when Davis was subbed? He's got this amazing ability to influence games without anyone actually noticing until he's gone!uk66fastback said:
I though Tadic put in a shift, which he sometimes doesn't -maybe the earlish assist fired him up a bit ... Mane's run for the second goal put Citeh's £££££ players to shame readlly ... but their defence - jesus. Otamendi might have the current 'look' off to a tee - beard, full sleeves No. 1 above the ears etc - but instead of spending time personally grooming himself he should learn to fking defend ... why bother though, never have to work again etc ... wo REALLY cares? Only the fans ...
Well done to Saints, they did all they needed on the dayI wouldn't get too giddy though about beating City reserves, there were only three players in the team who would be first choice on Wednesday and they played abysmally. It was an enormous disappointment that Pellegrini picked his team with such contempt for the Premier League. Granted, those second string players should have been good enough to beat Southampton but Saints smelled a wounded animal and went for the jugular with an enthusiasm that our players couldn't handle.
As always, I spent pre and post match with Saints supporting friends and the night in the pubs of Southampton. Everyone was, as usual, very friendly and sensible but almost to a man (or woman) although delighted with their win, were disappointed not so see our "stars" playing on the day.
Anyway, congratulations to Saints and good luck for next season, a club which I have a soft spot for who have by far the best (and biggest) programme in the Premier League.
One final thing, I feel you might have been reading to many yoonited forums written by out of towners, if you have been anywhere near Manchester you would know that nobody pronounces the name as "Citeh". Anyone who types this just sounds......well, a bit uninformed.

The whole Citeh squad consist of "out of towners", almost every PL club is owned by "out of towners", the complete PL floats on TV money from mainly "out of towners"....etc.DeltonaS said:

But the fans aren't (in the main) "out of towners" and the use of the word "Citeh" infers that Mancunians pronounce it as such (which I am sure you knew )but this isn't the case. People who use it just show that they regurgitate forum nonsense irrespective of the accuracy.Good luck to Saints against Spurs tomorrow.
The team and back-room staff were arriving at Waterloo this evening as I got off the escalator up from Waterloo East onto the main concourse. All very smart even though they were in squad 'sportswear' rather than suited'n'booted. Even had their initials on their matching 'club' luggage too.
A couple of older chaps (including a DW?) headed off separately from the players, who weren't being bothered by anyone on the platform as far as I could see. I never thought to take a picture...

There's a number of permutations, with Benteke's late equaliser last night not really changing things that much.
European qualification is not entirely in our hands (dropped points at home against Leicester & Villa in particular have come back to haunt us) but, if you'd offered me this position at the start of the season, I wouldn't have needed asking twice.
Concentrate on getting 3 points against Palace on Sunday and what will be, will be.
