Beneteke's late goal last night means we could still finish 8th, so not all cut & dry yet.

Worst we can finish is 8th, best is 5th. 7th most likely IMO, and if Utd win the FA Cup, I think we end up going through the Europa qualifiers as per last time. I'd be happy enough with 7th. Even 8th is still a fairly good season, but obviously the goal is to keep improving.

Give it everything against Palace, hope WHU, Man Utd and Liverpool slip up. It's all we can do.

The chance to finish 5th is limited but 7th is an opportunity and maybe 6th if some team slips up.
Been a good season and really pleased with the progress of some players. Hope that we keep the key ones, but realistically we need a couple of good signings or 1-2 from the youth teams to step up and become core members of the team.

It would be nice to find a 20+-goal-a-season striker. Much as I like Long/Pelle/Mané, I think it would really improve Saints' chances for a top 4 finish.

Interestingly, all three have scored 10 goals a piece in the PL this season so far.

So who for player of the season?

Mane has been incredible at times and then almost invisible others but probably gets my vote for the memorable performances.

Hopefully our avoidance at having too many stars and some of the hot/cold performances will stop the vultures circling above us in the summer this year, together with the relative failure of previous Saints stars going elsewhere and stepping up.

I would go for Van Dijk.

Close 2nd: Forster (huge improvement in form since his return)

Van Dijk for me - immense at times, and so very consistent.

Shane Long runner up. As well as pitching in with a few goals, his tireless workrate and general nuisance factor is up there with the best - he's proven a real handful for many defences this season.

Exactly my view too.

Forster and JWP sign new 5 and 6 year contracts, respectively - commitment from the players, intent from the club. Great news.

Is it wishful thinking to presume that, in signing lengthy extensions, these guys (and VVD) know something we don't about Koeman's forthcoming contract discussions ?

VVD won the clubs player of the season.
Long won the Daily Echo player of the season.

Could not argue with either.

Lets hope for 3 points tomorrow and the real Stoke turn up to give WHU a real toughie biggrin

Long is my POTS, but I can see/understand why van Dijk would win it. Great news that the fortress and JWP have signed extensions BTW. Just need Ron to confirm

63 points and 5th, even if temporarily. Great season overall and still room for improvement.

Just seen that we got 39 of those points in the 2nd half of the season, if we can continue that form into next year then we're sorted.

That's the impressive thing...we've done well despite some rubbish performances and no out and out goal scorer. I hope we can maintain the momentum into next season.

63 points, t least 6th and maybe 5th place in the league, scored plenty of goals despite not having a "20 goal a season striker" and the team are playing as a team.
Mane has been on fire the last few weeks and it's been a great run since Christmas. Hoping that we can keep the players who have driven us to success.

And what happened to our goalscoring legend Mr S.Davis..... 3 goals in 2 games!!

Anyone going to the Testimonial match tonight? As the sun is shining I have treated myself to a ticket. Hopefully we'll see some Blasts from the Past taking part.
