Have faith in the club. Its worked out alright before so no reason to think it's going to be a disaster.

Seems a good appointment imo.

Sad to see Sammy Lee go. I thought he was doing a good job and had the players with him.

Oh no another meltdown !!
Just like the last 2 seasons. Oh hang on , we actually had 2 very good seasons.
Typical Saints fan not giving any time to people we have never seen or heard of.
Perhaps it's good you have given your ticket up !

Decent cv, makes all the right noises. Doesn't matter who he is, he's got my full support and based on their choices so far you have to put full faith in Sir Les and the team. We're one of the best clubs at unearthing talent, and that's why we get raided so much - none of the big teams seem to be able to recruit beyond smaller teams like us. It's OK, we make a fortune!

Would it not be better for all concerned if we just bought your entire scouting set up? Cut out the middle man and save everyone a lot of time and money.

How are you for left backs? We desperately need one. Throw in a keeper to sweeten the deal.

Last two appointments made sense, particularly Koeman. I get that there were issues with Koeman, and other candidates were not able to fit in with the Saints philosophy, which is fine, but I do not get a warm feeling about this.

Yes ill be behind him, but fear he will be gone by Xmas.

Happy to come back then and eat some humble pie 😊

I swear that football clubs can't win. They spend months deciding on the right fit for the club and then people moan that it's not a "big name". They appoint a big, ambitious name and people moan that they aren't loyal.

I know that Lyon are one of the great overachievers of world football and that they run on a similarly analytical, holistic (horrible word!) way to Saints. I think that after the last few appointments (none of which have done anything wrong really) I'd trust the club to have gone for the most appropriate appointment this time round.

Thought a bit of positivity wouldn't go amiss biggrin

Indeed. This seems another well thought out appointment, unlike just giving the job to the 2nd-in-command like in the days of Wigley and Gray.

Of course it is no guarantee of success but I'm in a positive mode and hopefully we can sign some obscure French gems before the start of the season and see some of our youngsters break into the 1st Team as the season progresses.

We've signed a kid called Kieron Freeman from Dundee according to his twitter feed, bit of a coup as he was expected to go to Man United. Not to be confused with another Kieron Freeman who was on loan at Pompey last season (and was rubbish)

I have positive vibes about Puel, so I'm very much looking forward to the next season. No doubt a few more transfers in/out but I think he's a good appointment (without seeing the Saints play under him and based on the last two managers appointed).

Looks like I'm in the minority. Just genuinely don't get good vibes. However, you are all right, the board have a good track record. I hope they have struck gold again, as its a big year

I'll reserve judgement on this until the season is underway, however, seeing a lot of our transfer targets are either has-beens, nobodys or from clubs recently relegated, it doesn't fill me with confidence...

As for Eric Black as Puel's right hand man...

I know Pochettino was an unknown quantity when he came to us, as Puel is now, but we were a fair bit lower down the rankings at that time. Our aspirations should be a lot higher now and this pre-season is not showing it so far...

I really hope I'm wrong but I think we could struggle this season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bertrand is off to you lot... apparently we're eyeing up a Villa left back. Woohoo!

They were fantastic weren't they!

Shame about Pelle but can't really turn that offer down.

Hojbjerg looks alright...a bit Sigurdsson-esque who is a player I rate highly.
