I noticed that "seven ex-Southampton players on the pitch" comment about the Liverpool/Arsenal game on MotD. If Saints could perhaps keep hold of some of the youngsters they bring through from youth, then they'd be looking at easy top ten finishes and possibly regular European football...
If the same computer that found Hojbjerg finds us a centre back and a striker, we'll be reet. PEH is in a different class! Course, we'll need a replacement for when he ditches us next season too.
I saw MOTD2 yesterday (shame Arsenal couldn't get another 1-2 goals) and but when Mane went on that run and buried it top corner, I felt truly gutted at what we'll miss. If they keep him on form, with that attack they'll be pushing for the top this season. Pains me to say that.

Lets start with the game.
Played some nice football at times but really lacked a cutting edge. Playing with no width and no midfield player who can turn a game with a killer pass is going to hurt us this year. Get used to the diamond folks it's our managers formation of choice. Nice to see that the cheating footballer is alive and kicking !!
Forget the fee that was paid for Pogba as he is pure class. He will get tougher games than our midfield gave him but he has so much time and composure on the ball.
Now time for a rant !
It may be the theatre of dreams but more like a f*cking nightmare for away fans.
It is the only ground where away fans are treated like scum. Massive queue's for ticket checks and body searches. Herded into a couple of turnstiles by really rude stewards. Once inside only 4 staff to serve three thousand fans with food and drink !
United may be the biggest club in the world but they need to teach their staff that away fans are not something they wished they had not trod in !

We could have played until midnight and we still wouldn't have scored. We've got one natural finisher in the squad, and we play a formation that doesn't allow him anywhere to fit in. And when he does get brought on at 60mins or whatever, he's DEFENDING on the right wing!
J Rod looked fairly lively when he came on though. So badly want to see him recapture his pre-injury form. ThoughT Hojbjerg oozed class again, and VVD was typical VVD.
Played fairly well overall, knocked the ball around and didn't get bullied despite being a shortarse team on average comparison to Utd, but every time they went on the counter, they looked dangerous. We looked about as dangerous as a butterfly.
Still, patience is the name of the game. See how things are panning out at Christmas. Top half finish would be great, and a decent effort in the cups. I can't see us doing as well as we have been in recent years but we'll see.
