Full backs pushing on and adding weight to attacks is great, but far too often this season they are caught out and do not/cannot get back into o defensive shape quickly enough. Manning is particularly bad for this and he is not the fastest either when trying to recover position.

Shocking lack of positional awareness at times from the defenders. Basic stuff that U10s manage.
Yep. Funnily enough I made a comment along the lines of 'that wouldn't happen in the Tyro league'. Can't remember what it was now but a particularly excellent bit of defending by us.

Holgate was atrocious, Manning was terrible, Bazunu was Bazunu and Mara should never be near the first 11 ever again. No idea what RM was thinking with the team selection.

The below opinion is based on my limited knowledge of Russell Martin.

RM is Brendan Rodgers mk2. The bloke is clueless, only cares about possession based football, will never change tactics and throws everyone else under the bus instead of taking the blame himself. Comes out with buzzwords about courage, playing on the front foot, tells fans the team plays well (when they clearly didnt), speaks about not being far away from where he wants to be, blames the fans for the atmosphere failing to get the team going, and many other things. His signings have never been great, has only ever achieved mid table with Swansea with a pretty decent team.

This was the main reason I didn't want him at LCFC, I was dreading we were going to get him and convinced it was going to happen. IMO you'll be better to get rid ASAP, but I think you'll give him a little while longer yet. He'll pick up the odd win or two here, but will never be a long term option and will definitely not get you top 2.

My own opinion too. He came to LCFC from Celtic which as I saw it was from the equivalent of a 2nd division team to a 1st division one. If you put Celtic in the Premier there would be only one way they could go, Southampton have scored two and conceded 10 in the last three matches. That at least should give the manager at least an idea as to where he must rebuild.

Had to giggle this evening when watching the news. A special court deciding if the lighting on the Itchen Bridge should be changed from Portsmouth Blue to Southampton Red. Decision in December it seems.

Three valuable points last night, but by heavens we were poor. How we kept a clean sheet i have no idea.

I was about to post that we got a clean sheet.
Not seen the game but sad to hear that we were poor. Can you share why you think we were poor? creativity, not pressing, fitness etc?
Great free kick though

Great goal, apart from that it was an awful game, both teams were poor.

Too much space between defence and midfield (again). Manning is just a dreadful defender, constantly caught out of position and slow.

Too many passes backwards. The most positive passes come from Bazunu.. Too mahy times we work the ball to the front players only to pass it all the way back to the CBs or even the goalkeeper.

Sulemana, Alcaraz and S Armstrong played well though...

Another win today, I have no clue as to how we're playing but we seem to be in good form at the moment.

Listening on radio Solent suggested we played decent attacking football right to the end. Good to hear.

Shame Leeds didn’t slip up.

Took my nippers today...was expecting a dull draw or loss as usually happens when I go. But we were totally dominant. Not sure if Cardiff are any good or complete ste, but there was only one team on the pitch today. It should have been at least 6-0 if not for some poor finishing in the second half.

Got a lot of love for Adam Armstrong right now. His first goal today was a pleasure to behold! The way he has turned things around since last season is a beautiful thing to see. You could say this is his level and that might well be the case, but Che Adams certainly hasn't done the same.....

A lot of games unbeaten and some decent football. Need to keep up the run and then hope Ipswich, Leeds and Leicester don’t do as well in the remaining 22 games . Looking good for a play off spot. Need to shore the defence up a bit more

I was explaining to a Liverpool fan what it means to be a fan of a team where if you are in the premier league you lose more than you win and in the championship you might have a winning season.
We never start a season expecting to win a trophy or the league. We don't expect to buy £50m players and winning a local derby or beating Man City in a 1 off game is enough.

He did not get it
