I'm cautiously optimistic as with the start to most seasons. For the league it must depend on the quality of the signings and an untried manager. Could be horrendous, might just work.
For the club I think we're heading in the right direction - costs under some form of control, debts lessened. If we can restructure/bin the Thorpe Arch deal and buy back the ground then we're better than where we started.

We will win the league or the manager will be gone before October.
You think he'll survive until October?! Mind you, given the comments our new owner has been making in the press the chances of attracting a half decent manager to replace Hockaday if (when?) he gets the bullet are pretty much nil.....From what I've seen and heard, we played like we sold a striker who scored half our goals, and hired half a dozen individuals from another country and a manager from non-league football. Who would have thought it?
Being owners of Elland Rd is going to be no use at all if we are in the 3rd Division again, and playing football that has people staying at home in their droves.

I know it's very early days but nothing I've seen so far has made me think this will be anything other than a difficult season. Losing at Millwall wasn't a great surprise as they've got a manager with a track record of getting results in the Championship and I doubt they'll be scrapping near the bottom as they were last year. However, even though we got the points against Boro I think we were lucky to do so (had their disallowed goal stood I doubt we'd have won the game) and losing at home last night to a team that had lost both of their opening games wasn't great. At the moment I'm still thinking fourth from bottom or higher will be a result....
Right now it looks like a Unibond League 4 (North) Manager in charge of £12:75 worth of Serie-X players who read the 1978 copy of My First Book Of Football. If your team looks like a 4th Division team, guess where it is going to end up? If you want to be in the Premier League, you need Premier League quality players.

Watford v Leeds United. I'm dreading today's game. Kick off at 3pm?
Yes, can see us losing by several goals today. The one hope I cling to is that Cellino is a successful businessman and hence if only for the sake of his own investment he presumably isn't looking for Leeds to struggle and end-up back in League 1; therefore, I'm hoping the penny will drop - and he'll realise he needs to invest sensibly in the squad - before it's too late. However, a set of rejects from the Italian League combined with a manager who's way out of his depth isn't likely to cut it IMO..... Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
