Our defending was awful (especially in the first half) and their finishing was much more clinical; however, while overall Brighton deserved to win, when you look at the balance of possession and chances created I think a four goal margin flattered them slightly. That said it's really not a good situation for us and one that will only be resolved by a change of owner (although he'll probably get through another manager or two before he finally departs).
I'd agree with that. If we can keep it together, then top 10 isn't unreasonable, and if Cellino can keep his oar out until next September and don't haemorrhage talent over summer then we could make a good start to 16/17. We are so close to the play-offs that it just increases the frustration that we threw so much away earlier.

Back to earth with a bump on Saturday though; I know the form book goes out of the window with derby games but to go in front at home against a team that's flirting with relegation and then lose 4-1 is pretty poor. We do have a small number of decent players but I'm not convinced we'll be able to keep them over the summer and overall the squad's weak; still think we need a new owner - and probably a new manager - before we're likely to be serious contenders for promotion. Look who's in today's newspaper...

Whilst we finished a couple of places higher than last season, and we managed to avoid relegation I think we can say that was a disappointing one. Too many times we were either just not good enough, or there were too many errors which cost us points.
Steve Evans will likely be leaving with Cellino bringing in someone with absolutely no experience of the English game and who will be sacked before Christmas. I'm not convinced that if Evans stayed he'd get us promoted but give him a pre-season and you never know.
It's going to be an interesting summer again.

But probably interesting for all the wrong reasons! Hopefully we'll manage to keep hold of our better youngsters although given the current situation you couldn't blame them for leaving if a decent offer came along; to be fair Evans did a better job than I expected but I still don't see him taking us back to the Premier League if I'm honest. However, the big problem remains the owner and I think we'll never really progress - or be able to attract a good quality manager - unless and until he goes; if there's one departure I'd like to see over the summer it's Cellino but sadly it's the one that's probably least likely to happen... ETA: I see John Sheridan is being linked with the manager's job which if true sounds like another disaster waiting to happen! He was a good player for us in the 1980's but frankly Steve Evans has achieved more as a manager and personally I'd rather give him a chance for a full season than bring in a replacement who's unlikely to be any better.

So I see we have now sunk so low that even the manager of MK Dons doesn't want to come to us; however, to be fair to Karl Robinson I don't blame him as nobody in their right mind would want to work for the mad Italian! I do however think this is all completely unfair on Steve Evans; it seems clear that Cellino has decided he wants someone else in the job so he really should be honest and get rid of Evans so he (Evans) can draw a line under things and move on....
