Should have been out of sight by half time with their keeper making 2 or 3 decent saves and a few shots straight at him.
Changes needed on Friday as some of our players looked absolutely frazzled - Kamara was awful last night. Summerville is so desperate to score a goal he's given up passing to anyone once he's in the box and Rutter spent the evening trying to force his way through the 2/3 men who were constantly on him... a good tactic as it neutralised him totally.
Great goal from James though and Joseph unlucky - I'd like to see him start on Friday.

And the pressure is back on... Good result from the clips I have seen.
Yeh they made it difficult first half and could havr been 1 up, but that chance aside struggled to lay a glove really. Good calm and patient performance which is a good sign when the pressure is mounting. Jungleland said:

Back to second for now but I fully expect Ipswich to beat Cardiff tomorrow and can see the race for the automatic promotion places going right to the wire...

I looked last night - we're one win away from the points that would have had us automatically promoted the season we won it with Bielsa. Just shows how mad it is as I don't necessarily think another 5 wins would do it.
I agree. I think we've a good chance of finishing with over 90 points which more often than not would see you promoted as champions; however, this season it might not be enough to secure promotion at all, never mind the top spot! In any normal season the run we've been on since the turn of the year would have put some clear blue water between us and the chasing pack but not this time - more than likely we'll be out of the top two again by 3pm today...

Nearly a perfect weekend for us!
Leeds win (tick)
Ipswich lose (tick)
Leicester draw (half a tick)
Yeah, I'll take that! 3 points and -1 goal diff away now. Both of those seemed a long long way off at Christmas!
It's certainly a massive turnaround from the turn of the year! Leeds win (tick)
Ipswich lose (tick)
Leicester draw (half a tick)

And with Leicester on FA cup duty next weekend I think we could actually go top on goal difference if we can manage to beat Millwall by at least two goals; ok, we'll have played a game more but after the loss to WBA in late December who would have thought we could be top going into the international break in March? If anyone had suggested that as a possibility at the beginning of January I'd have thought they were mad and/or smoking something!!

Absolutely. Whilst I've accepted that if we miss out then it is just pure freakish bad luck and not be too bothered by it - it would be cruel if we were to maintain some semblance of our 2024 form until the end and then not go up. The closer it gets though, the more I'm dreading the Prem, losing a lot, and VAR.

Southampton are going to be busy!

Can't see them getting top 2, if they do fair play to them though! Think they'll need to win at least 8 out of 11 games, or 7 wins and 3 draws. Glad we don't play them until near the end, but you probably have the best match against them, they'll be unable to get top 2 so won't be that arsed about beating you.Ipswich v Southampton (April 1st)

We have to finish in the top two to go up. The playoffs will be brutal. Personally I think we can win the the league but I feel for any of the teams in the top four (including ourselves) finding themselves in the play offs. A complete lottery!!
I understand the commercial reasons why the play-offs exist but personally I hate them (and quite genuinely that's not just because we always do badly in them!). This season the team that finishes 6th in the Championship could quite easily be 20 points adrift of the team in 3rd yet under the play-off system that counts for nothing and the team that's finished 6th could actually be the third team to go up. You can talk until you're blue in the face but you'll never convince me that's right or fair; after a punishing 46 game season I think the top three in the division should go up, not a team that's finished way behind but then got lucky over the equivalent of 3 cup-ties in the play-offs. A ludicrous system that potentially allows this to happen IMO....

I'll maintain what I said last week - Leeds are going to win this...
