If City genuinely were a big club they wouldn't have so many empty seats in a must win game that'd keep them in the title race.

I reckon you could walk up to the stadium on most match games and get a ticket from the ticket office.

Job done tonight, no more than that. Would be good to have yaya back next Sunday and aguero getting towards fitness could be vital.

Could all be academic if Chelsea lose next Sunday, but fortunately Maureen loves the limelight and the big games.

Just got to win our remaining games and see where we end up. We've come a long way so I'm just glad we're (just) still in contention. 2 years ago was proof it's not over till it's over.

I'm sure GMR said tonight that we've played 17 games more than Pool this season! Did anyone else here that?

Midfielders

17 games? Ahhhh. You do have enough quality players to field two sides at times though.
Ok, Nastasic has been injured for probably half your games. Aguero for probably 10 games or so? You still have ALOT of quality there. No excuses.

The number of games each club has played isn't particularly relevant, comparing the amount of game time for each player would be a better comparison.

Quite. You'd expect the most expensively assembled sporting squad on the planet to cope with a few extra games.

Lol.

I heard the other day that you'd used fewer players in the Premier League this season than any other team.

There's a lot to be said for playing a settled team. Unfortunately playing a lot of games makes the risk of injury higher regardless of transfer fee paid ( in fact you could argue that the better the player, the more risk of injury they have as they're more involved and playing closer to their physical limits?).
More games does have an effect. Also the demands of TV schedules means there can be less rest time between games.
Not an excuse, just fact.

Not that I disagree with any of that. However, if you fail to win the title this year, do you think City will have underachieved?

No, you can't win the league every year ( although you obviously try!).
We've progressed further in the CL and won a (Mickey Mouse) cup.
The seasons not over yet smile

Did you assemble them figures from Football Manager because inflation aint risen that much wink

Top and bottom of it is to accumulate more points than the other teams, as it stands we have not done that, only ourselves to blame for that IMO, early season didnt carry much form as such.
17 games is alot, 180 minutes off half a season, dont care who you are, how much you cost or are paid, there will be a fatigue factor plus a carry of knocks in that, whilst we have been playing those extra games Liverpool will have had the chance to have more preparation for the next game, get some downtime and recover from the previous game,
We cannot complain, we wanted success, to get success you have to play more cup games ontop of your standard 38 leaguers, I am bloody sure we wouldnt mention the extra games if we were top of the league and still in the other cup competitions, but hey ho, We will just have to give it another go next season.

A UEFA panel is currently negotiating settlements with clubs which have breached rules designed to curb huge investments by owners and excessive spending on transfers and wages since 2011.
So clubs who have spent too much money will get their wrists slapped by giving a nice fat cheque over to UEFA...

The irony of fining a club for spending too much money seems lost on the transparent, non-corrupt organisations of FIFA and UEFA...

Big game now but would prefer the PL trophy to stay in Manchester, even if that's the noisy half. wink Good luck!
