Not sure if this is the best place for this, but...

I've recently started seeing someone and as part of our second proper date we're going to the Etihad in a couple of weeks to watch the Everton game - The trouble is, is that I'm a long way from being a football fan (I'm a rugby (mostly Union) fan) and the idea of this until I met her was something I would never have considered. However, I like her enough to agree to go. She knows this and has said, repeatedly, that I don't have to go if I don't want to.

What I'm after is a bit of guidance about a replica shirt (as I know she'll find it hilarious and touching that I've made the effort) - I don't want to buy one new (£70 odd quid - I don't bloody think so) and a second hand one is fine. There's a lot on ebay (naturally) but I don't know what the accepted etiquette is for second hand shirts.

I'm probably overthinking this, but having never been to a football match (that I've not played in) I'm properly clueless

Thanks smile JTW

Colin Bell (Club legend) replica shirt.

Burt as Stuart has said you really don't need one.

If you're over 25 and/or have a pot belly, a replica shirt is a no-no in my opinion smile
2nd hand shirts will often be a previous seasons and unless it's from many moons ago, you look like a tight fist smile

Hmm, I did have the above nagging thought in the back of my mind.

The 2 recent replica shirts on the site, however, are 2XL and XL and I'm more a Medium shirt fella. The retro ones might work though....

I remember asking the future Missus to wear my top in bed several years ago, during the yo-yo years.
She replied " is so that I can go down on you?"
Put me right off that particular fantasy.

I imagine she was only offering to replicate our league positions at the time.

She went to a signing a couple of weeks back with her boys - she did tell me what for, but it, er, went in one ear and out the other and I asked her how it went at Old Trafford. She laughed it off smile

James- didn't clock at first you were the guy who had the trouble last year. Pleased everything worked out but don't spend your £50 on a shirt though!

Haha, thanks smile

Apparently a scarf will be provided so I may yet not bother, but I know she won't expect me to bother with a shirt so I want to try just because it'll add to the date.

Not that she'll notice as she's a die hard football/Man City fan so I could be at a bar in another part of Manchester and she might not even notice hehe
