Wow! I didn't call this at all.
I doubt many did tbh.I like Pellegrini but his tactics are awry at time. TBH, I can see Pep making many of the same sand think he will an expensive failure as he's not used to a properly competitive league (and Pellegrini has still not properly got to grips with it).
Plus this obsession with possession (a la Pep) is not as effective as actually having a fking shot rather than constantly fannying around letting the opposition get bodies behind the ball and snuffing out chances (cf Arsenal)

Couldn't of put it better, the number of times we had the ball in front of their box only for us to pass it out to the wings was ridiculous, 3 nil down just shoot at the goal what have you got to lose.Got to be said the ref had an absolute shocker today.
Been moaning about this for at least 3 years. Take a chance, have a shot - might score, might get a corner (which we will waste), may be deflected in, may be blocked and rebound out if anyone (ie not Yaya) can be bothered to follow up
Ref wasn't as bad as others I have seen; sure, we should have had a few more free kicks but overall I thought he got most things right, including the Zaba penalty appeal.
We only have ourselves to blame - how lethargic were City compared to Leicester? Where was the urgency, the will to win, the desire?

I don't often stray away from the Everton section of this board, but Pellegrini's comment about Leicester having the advantage because the league is their sole focus is ridiculous. I like your current manager, but what sort of grip on reality does a man have when he makes remarks like this? Leicester have the advantage because they have fantastic spirit, a shrewd manager and talented players playing at their best, all done for little more than Jack Rodwell cost you 6 years ago. Good on 'em.
I have to agree as well. It's obvious really, when you're thinking about 4 fronts then your focus is divided.
When you are, potentially, playing twice the number of games than Leicester then injuries and fatigue is far more likely.
Don't say "that's what squads are for" either because ultimately some players are better than others and some more suited to different situations.
Having said that though, Leicester played really well on Saturday and if they win the league they are more than worthy.

Have to agree with Pellegrini to some extent. I'm not saying that only going for one competition is the sole reason Leicester are doing so well because it definitely is. But to say it isn't an advantage would be incorrect also.
Leicester only have 4 matches in Feb, which is ideal for them. City, something like 9 matches in same period?Exactly. It definitely helps.
With Liverpool currently we're doing very little training as we've got a game pretty much every 3 days. That means day 1 - match, day 2 - rest/analysis of the last game and next, day 3 recovery/light training/.
Whereas Leicester will have several days of analysing the next opponent and training specifically to defend against them and exploit any weaknesses. Obviously preparation can only take you so far and you still have to go out on the day and do the business, which Leicester have been doing, so they deserve all the plaudits they're getting.

I get where he's coming from, but with your resources you would expect to be fighting on a few fronts, presumably that is what the manager prepares for and explains the obscene salaries of players and managers. I understand why Pellegrini made such a remark, but if he's being genuine then put the kids in for the cup games and throw the Champs League! Interesting season though.
