Penalty was dodgy (no surprise Clattenburg was involved - my Spurs supporting neighbour agreed that (a) he didn't have a good view of it and (b) if he did, he could not give a penalty) and I thought a couple of offsides went against us.
We both agreed a draw was a fair result.
We're only 4 points behind Spurs though (the favourites now, for me), so if they suffer a few injuries and we get more of our lads back, it's not inconceivable that we can catch them. Can't afford any more slip ups though.

I think if Clattenburg had realised Sterling was in the box he wouldn't have blown his whistle.
I reckon he's blown his whistle instinctively thinking the player wasn't in the box, off course as soon as he's realised Sterling is in the box there's nothing much he could do to reverse his poor decision.
Plenty off points still to play for & City are good enough to still win it.
Why does nobody realise what the FA cup means to us fans ? fking disgraceful
& I'm not just singling out City here , we all just may as well not bother .
How the fk do the clubs expect the fans to pay their hard earned when they obviously couldn't give too sts themselves .

To be fair, it is the least important game in the next 10 days.
Champions league, winning the League cup at Wemberley and staying in the Premiership race are far more important in most people's opinion.

I think it's fair to say the FA cup is not the big important competition it was in the 1950's and 60's.
When I were a lad, on cup final day, the whole country virtually ground to a standstill, streets were deserted, shops shut up at 3pm, the build up on BBC1 from 11 am with Kenneth Wolstenholme and David Coleman was essential viewing.
Now kids are more interested in playing World of Warcraft..
Whether Pellers was right to field a rookie side is debateable, (Personally, I think he was), but to be fair to Chelsea they can only beat what is put in front of them. 3-1 would have been a better reflection (imo).
Overall, it was an entertaining game, good penalty stop by Willy, but really he is not up to standard and I expect Pep will show him the exit door.

Don't forget though Wacky, when we were kids the FA Cup was virtually the only live football on telly.
And you could buy a house for £500
And that was in Prestbury....And you could buy a house for £500

Transmission finished at 11pm after the national anthem, no wonder families were so big in those days..
My favourite players were Bert Trautmann and Big Dave Ewing, and later on Johnny Crossan, Colin Bell, Buzzer and Derek Kevan.......(even got his autograph outside Maine Road)

Was at the game and half jokingly suggested we may have got a result with Hart in nets. The youngsters did well, no disgrace to lose to a full strength Chelsea side and really we had no choice with the fixture pile up (thanks FA and BBC).
Caballero was very poor again (also had the misfortune to be at Spurs away) - WTF was he doing for the free kick?
Amongst all the "City have destroyed the FA cup" nonsense I've yet to see any comment on the UEFA coefficient. There is a serious risk of England going down to 3 Champions League places so a good run by one or more English teams should benefit all, hence why the FA should have supported this game being played yesterday.

The only way to revive the FA cup is to give a champions league place to the winners. Suspect it will not have influenced our team selection today, although on current form maybe it would have done ...& I'm not just singling out City here , we all just may as well not bother .

This cannot happen because that means a team could qualify for the CL after playing just 6 games & they could be all against lower placed oppo & all at home rather than the 38 games in the league. The Champions league & Europa league is partly to blame for the demise of the FA cup & more importantly there's just not enough money involved in the cup.
I wonder if the teams playing in Europe had the chance to opt out of the cup , would they ?

As part of winning the FA cup, why not award the winning team a move up of one place in their respective division at the end of the season? That would prove very interesting if there was a gap of say, 8 points or more. A chance to leap frog that gap by earning it winning the games in each round of the FA cup and also the final. Could stave off relegation, could win promotion, could get a Champions League spot, could create some games to stave off relegation also. It would possibly make the league uncertain until the very last game of the season - the FA cup final.
