Sort of agree with you WRT Yaya, but as you say, just as you're feeling he is passed it, he will have one of 'those' games and make you look a right tit.
Also, even after putting 4 past Stoke, I'm not hugely confident against Real, even if they're without Benzema.
But at the end of the day, we need to get used to playing at this level, and I'm just hoping our attacking genius outweights our defensive frailties.
Clean sheet and I'd be DELIGHTED!

Yes, you are right on all points and I had forgotten about Benzema.

As for looking a right tit if he shines on Tuesday, nothing new there, it is my default setting!biggrin

That Arsenal result was just the ticket for the Blues, win our next two games and that is top four sorted.

This Madrid team are here for the taking.
Defence is poor and the are very short upfront ...
Can't believe Isco does not make this team

Rather boring first half, not many incidents......

The second half will be crucial, we HAVE to get at LEAST a goal

Is it as quiet in the ground as it sounds on TV?

Very impressed with a few of the players, Clichy and Sagna in particular have been really impressive.
Not to mention Otamendi.
Kompany, of course, has been fantastic.

Of all people you want to be clear on goal, not fking Sterling. He doesn't deserve to be in Blue.

Not the best result, but certainly not a disaster.

90 minutes away from a Champions league final, if the players aren't up for it they never will be.

The downside is, we will be facing Ronaldo, arguably the world's best player in great form.

Whatever happens, Pellegrini can hold his head up high.

Seriously? Stoping them getting an away goal gives us the advantage, shows what we would have done with a fit Vinny all season.

I heard this on Talksport last night on the way back from the game and it genuiningly shocked us.
The crowd really wasn't quiet, there was virtually constant singing. Agreed it could have gone up a notch but with both teams set up not to concede there was a bit of a lack of goal mouth action to get really excited.
There were 2 callers who agreed it was quiet though (among the many who said it wasn't). Puzzled me though?
Only real dissapoint meant was not getting the chance to boo Ronnie again smile

Note to tired self: realise this morning I'm getting to old for 200mile round trip evening games.

I think this is the problem with modern bowl shaped stadiums, the atmosphere is never that good... to many 'vocalists' spread out around the stadium rather in 1 section like the Kop or Yellow wall so the atmosphere doesnt carry as well - same at the new wembley - you seem to have 1 little section at city next to the away fans but in comparison to some grounds that is tiny for your 'main noisy section'

Could be wrong? just my observations

I really can't see how we have an "advantage" playing Real Madrid in Madrid, starting at 0-0 with a fit Ronaldo. They have not conceded a goal yet at home.

A good chance if we get some breaks, certainly.

Interesting that the stadium was originally built for athletics so not really football friendly. The noise doesn’t reverberate.

I have to confess that I was quietly hoping you’d stuff one or two past the arrogant bds but at 0-0 you are still in it. If Ronnie has tweaked his hamstring he may miss the second leg.

200 miles round trip - I know the feeling. I’m lucky to be home for 12:30 am after an evening game at Old Trafford although of late there has usually been plenty of time for a nap in the first half!

Yep, it was 12:30 when we got back, then couldn't get to sleep until well after 2, then awake at 6 like normal.
Young mans game wink

I think you've a point.
At Maine rd there were 30000 making a racket. Now we're all older, it's generally to expensive for a new wave of youngsters and there's 20000+ tourists there now as well. I don't think this is a problem unique to City though.
However, I'll take it with a pinch of salt when I hear there was no atmosphere at another ground from now on though.

Personally, I always thought the atmosphere at Maine Road was a bit lacking (Except in the centre of the (old) Kippax), unless it was a very big game, Liverpool or United for example.

The average attendance in our First Division Championship winning season 67/68 was only around 36,000, I was suprised at that. (It held 63,000 at the time).

My Dad went to the 6th round Stoke Match in 1934.....84,569 an English record that still stands even today......(Outside Wembley)

These days, I blame all seating for sterile atmosphere in grounds.
