E24man said: I think you can be fairly sure Sheik Mansour was never a MCFC fan in the near past and the decision to buy the club will be based wholly on business reasons rather than any passion for MCFC or the City itself. The club is a toy and tool for him, it's something to play with for a few years, it raises his and his country's profile, but we all know what happens when tools have served their purpose and are no longer useful, and what happens when people get bored of their toys...... Well done to City on winning the title - the table says you deserve it and that ultimately is unequivocable. But predictions about their future, about having no further challenges in the Premier League, about even where you might be next season never mind the spectre of the Financial fair play are all wildly speculative. Well done to the supporters who have been there through a very long thin and now are worthy supporters of the EPL Champions. Enjoy the sunshine But they won't have to look far (Blackburn, Leeds) to see what happens when the gravy-train runs a little thin. Chelsea should always hope Abramovic stays on the good side of Putin as any falling out there will result in a very sudden fall from their current lofty financial position and as for MUFC, their fiscal high-wire act with the Glaziers holding the balance bar continues to defy gravity against all odds, they had better hope there is some one or organisation who can afford to catch them when they fall. You are right on all counts I think - except for MUFC. The Glazers own it & it has some debt, but that is much reduced & its also not at a problem in relation to turnover & profitability. If the Glazers themselves get into trouble then maybe it would have to be sold - but that would be their problem & would not, theoretically, impact the business of the club - which is self sustaining. United is operating as many commerical businesses of that size do but which, in fact, is not that common amongst football clubs. As a sustainable business it does not have too many problems. As we know, the most likely outcome is that it will be (at least partially) floated by the Glazers - which is also a legitimate thing to do with any business you own if you want to "cash out". They can only do that precisely because it is profitable & so you couldn't do it with pretty much any other PL club that I can think of. Lucky them, they bought well.

it;'s not just the bitterness- it's the ill informred speculative guess work I'm enjoying oh and if in 15 years we;re back in the 3rd tier, guess what, I'll still be there, as will the rest, as thats where we were 15 years ago and no one ran away then. We can handle it - we're pretty tough up here

Not bitter about the fact that City won/United lost a title, just pointing out that its all a bit "Meh" as far as many other fans are concerned ! Probably also born out of too many "Fookin' loov it that Citeh stoofed them Rags!!" and "RIP Baconface/Whiskynose/Scum" type comments that seem to abound, In terms of the football played, I'd say it probably ended up in the right place though. Fans will always "compare clubs". Mine gets knocked a lot just for being successful, yours will too, but maybe for that and slightly different reasons City is now a big club though, its not going away any time soon (although severely lacking in some minor details like revenue) - but overall, its not unbeatable - and as Stuart says, roll on next year, it ought to be a cracker. To wit end I really hope that the Gooners can keep RVP and that Newcastle can keep the Dembas & Tiote.

For City fans, they now need to come to terms with being City universally unpopular, simply for the sin of success. If anyone is in a position to be objective about this, then it is United fans who have endured it for decades. On theUAE side, if you don't take our word for it, read this. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2144359/...We're not raining on your parade. Tevez did that for you. I bet the Sheikh is interested to see that just two days on from his Club's biggest day, they are making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Welcome to Carlos, Manchester!

I never take any article in the Daiy Mail at face value. Also any article which has "I'm not bitter" in reminds me of "I'm not a racist but",,.... which is the Mails favourite subject.
I've not seen/read/heard much gloating at all. Most City fans know how close it was. However I have heard a lot of "I'm not bitter but" from some fans of other big clubs. Perhaps that is why no one likes you?

I've just heard a quote from SAF saying it wasn't right that City were still playing after Utd had finished and the Premiership should look into it, Hows that going to work then Alex??

Did he really say that? LOL The thinking they'd won, and then the not winning must have been more of a shock than was apparent. Well done you guys. I'm not sure there is all that level of bitterness against MC, most people who have posted on here have been gracious in their congratulations. A couple exceptions who seem to think the world order has been upset, but so what? You won it fair and square and did it in the most dramatic, Man U soul crushing manner imaginable. Well done you!

I did just see a very funny quote to the effect of City being like a 50+ yr old bald, fat, ugly, short, and slightly smelly virgin who paid a huge amount of cash to a hooker to lose his virginity - and now expects all the blokes in the pub to respect him for his animal magnetism & pulling power!

essexplumber is at it on this thread too? he's just jealous that RA picked Chelsea and not Tottenham.
and spending lots of money on players, not good for youth academies? does it not give other teams desire to make great players so they can sell them on for massive profit?

Football is about winning trophies and playing and competeing in the beautifull game, not making money. But as a Chelsea fan I wouldn't expect you to understand those points. I am in no way jealous of what Chelsea and City have, not even slightly, to win trophies based purely and entirely on being able to outspend those those around you isn't my idea of success.

You wouldn't say that being able to get that team to play together and play some actually quite good football has just the tiniest amount to do with it too? You do come across as being very bitter about all this.
