Back home and ready smile
Joes on the bench again. I really rate him (I know Wacky doesnt smile ) but I've just seen his stats vs pep's previous keepers and he really doesn't fit Peps style of play. Looks like a dead man walking tbh.
Willys not a patch on Joe so there must be a replacement lined up.
Sterlings looked good since Pep's arrival.

I'm very underwhelmed by the attack of this team. You could really do with a few more clinical strikers.

At this stage it doesn't seem to be panning out as well as Mourinho's plan.

Goal count for the season : 3

2 from penalty spot
1 own goal

The stats don't say anything about whether Joe could adapt or not. He's just never been asked to play sweeper-keeper.

I'm sure Pep won't have tried anything whatsoever in training scratchchin

Sterling really is a heap of rubbish. There's no end product, doesn't actually do a great deal with the ball.

I'm sure he has. It just seems daft to point to a big difference in stats as to a reason why he doesn't fit Pep's style of play when there are two completely different styles in use historically.

Sorry if you think it's daft but the stats show Pep' likes keepers who distribute to players rather than kicking it long which Joe likes to do. It's his style.
Pep's obviously already made his mind up.

It's not like he hasn't had a heads up that Pep was coming. It's been confirmed for 6 months with probably another 6 months of likelihood before that.

As a pro surely you need to factor in what the new guy wants/likes and start working on it.

Not if the current manager you're still playing for wants you to kick it long...

Sod the current manager! He's gone in a couple of months, even if you were dropped for the last couple of months you'd surely be better off practicing day in day out for what the new guy wants.

I don't think there has ever been a playing noticeably change their style because they're anticipating a new manager coming in...?

I agree, which is why they get shown the door pretty quickly. The crazier thing is players going to clubs under a manager that is never going to suit their style!

Add 4 to that. And a few more from earlier this week. Guardiola is asking a lot more of his team and it will take time to gel. Be interesting to see the results of this.

Apparently (read in the guardian) during training Hart was having trouble switching the ball from one foot to the other and passing. Guardiola needs the goal keeper to be able to pass. As should most managers really.

Said it will take a few months to learn to the standard pep wants. Whether Hart is happy to wait or not who knows. Probably have a better keeper by then anyway so questionable if he'll ever reclaim number 1 spot.

Another tough group draw.
We should know Barcelona by now and if we can beat them then there's no reason we shouldn't finish top.

Harts last game last night?
