Top Seeds in the UEFA Cup!
UEFA must be more out of touch with UK footy than I thought
See - we've got UEFA believing we're a big club

Tottenham will be among the top seeds when the draw for the Uefa Cup group stages is made on Tuesday.
It means Spurs, who are bottom of the Premier League, will avoid some of the favourites for the event such as AC Milan, Valencia, Sevilla and Hamburg.
Manchester City are in the third group, while both Portsmouth and Aston Villa are in the fourth pot of seeds.
The trio are certain to face a top seed, other than Tottenham, and could also meet Ajax or Paris St Germain.
All of the other English teams are least 2 (but mainly 3) pots below us!It means Spurs, who are bottom of the Premier League, will avoid some of the favourites for the event such as AC Milan, Valencia, Sevilla and Hamburg.

nearly what?
nearly stay in the top flight?
TBH there's some fundamental issues they need to address pretty quickly, like why the fk are they playing long balls without supporting the hit-man
Nearly as in will never be top 4, we always come up with the same excuses, we are just a player or two short of being a top 4 side. Things will never change, do I sound like I am a pessimist? well I have been an optimistic for 20 years nearly stay in the top flight?

The best thing that could have happened to Spurs would have been them getting knocked out of the UEFA cup last week.
For some reason Ramos is a cup man. He saves Ledley King for Cup games which is bizzare in the extreme. The Spanish traditionally put more emphasis on the European trophies and seemingly resign themselves to Real or Barca winning the league each year, therefore anyone outside of Spain's top 2 are regarded as successful by winning the Copa del Rey or the UEFA Cup. Ramos seems to have it in his head that Spurs will be satisfied with a mid table finish and some sort of domestic or European success. Thats not enough as rightly or wrongly the board and the fans think they are a potential top four club.
History tells me different, I have said this before and got slaughtered but Everton are traditionally a bigger club, by virtue of the fact they have won so many league titles and several since Spurs last won the league in 1961, notably dominating for a short time in the mid eighties. In that time Spurs won the odd FA Cup and a UEFA cup, it's interesting to note that during that time so did Ipswich Town...I don't hear Everton fans making such ridiculous claims each summer. What I do see is a club supporting the manager and giving him time to build each season, if Everton do get a buyer they already have the structure in place to build on.....Spurs have a knee jerk reaction every time something goes wrong which usually includes sacking the manager and the new manager then making massive changes which means more transition.....it's a never ending circle.
Financially Spurs may have more power than most but money doesn't buy success. For Spurs to be successful they need to build a team and set realistic targets to build success, expecting Champions league football and talking about winning major trophies is unrealistic in the short term. They also need to build a new stadium and get some more income as White Hart Lane is only going to hold them back long term.
As a gooner I'm not actually enjoying this at all, there is room in North London for two strong clubs and if Spurs get relegated it's going to be barren without the derby games and the rivalry. I'll settle for you finishing fourth from bottom...

At the rate they are going, the only top-four they will be breaking into is the play-off places in the championship next season. Mind you as a Pompey fan, I'll quite happily watch them go down.
In which case as a Spurs fan I hope Southampton go up..........Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
